I am thinking of buying an f4i or 600rr as my third bike once I fix up my F***d up R6 and sell it. I want something fuel injected and smooth (if that is really something) I rode my cousins 07 cbr 600rr and fell in love with it:ride it felt very smooth and the turns felt as if I were just gliding. My 02 r6 feels like it handles really rough and has abrupt throttle response, and also a real stiff suspension.

I wanted to know if an f4i has the same plushy feeling as a 600rr in the smoothness department. Is it just the difference of a carbbed bike and FI injected? my cousin's 600rr was the first fuel injected bike I had ridden.

Once you ride a 07 600rr, you'll think everything else sux ;)
The F4i is smooth and really fast in 1st gear.

i have both, both are great in there own way. 600rr more aggresive race set up, and the f4i is the best all around bike ever made. Both have the benifit of fuel injection

I got an 01 F4i as a starter bike because I heard they're rather forgiving and comfortable ergonomically. But lately I've ridden my buddies RR quite a few times and really enjoyed the weight and handling. The RR feels more responsive and precise as I suspect any newer bike would. The RR's ergos are really noticeably different to me, as you're over the bars a lot more, and it's easier to tuck in at speed. On long rides though, I'm much more comfortable because there's less strain on my arms. The RR seems to have more power available across the entire band, but I ass-u-me-d that has a lot to do with the bike being newer too. Overall, I love my F4i, but I think the later model RRs are sexier, more precise and faster...so I plan to get an RR and turn this F4i track-only (when i get rich) so I can do what hitman is doing in his avatar . So in my opinion, get a newer bike if you can afford it, or the F4i if you're a newer rider or more concerned with ergos. :ride

they're both injected hence the "i" and both share smooth and linear throttle response.

You could get that sorted out. The suspension IS adjustable and a carbed bike shouldn't have snatchy throttle, that's more something you find in fuel injected bikes.

Once you get your R6 running right there'll probably be about a 2% performance difference between that and a new 600RR.

Ask yourself how many thousands of dollars you want to spend for that 2%.

+1 Had the 600rr, but after a few years tracking it, I just didn't like the ergos of being so far on top of the bike like Mackey said. I'm on a 750 now, which I feel more "in" the bike. When I had the 600rr, I always seemed to put off putting the street plastic back on, because the F4i was so much more adaptable to everyday street riding.

In fact, I do the same now with the gixxer, although the bike is better on the street, I'm just a lazy ass to keep swapping the plastic every other week during the race season. :ride

Ok, here's my question:

Why do people obsess over FI so much? I've seen horribly snatchy FI on a lot of bikes, including my 929, without a remap. I've never ridden a bike in a reasonable set of tune with carbs that replicates that sort of on/off throttle hesitation.

I'm a huge fan of the RR as a bike. If it's your 3rd bike, and you're comfortable with commuting on the R6, take the RR as a play bike. If you're not comfortable for commuting/whatever on the R6, get the F4i.

the f4i is the more comfortable version of the older cbr, but the new cbr's are so freakin comfortable it's amazing.

FWIW...I ride an F4, which has about the same ergos as an F4i. I'd describe it as "not too bad," I can knock out a couple hundred miles no problem, with a few stops for snacks etc. I probably stop once every 50 miles on average, for a few minutes.

If you get the carbs tuned up by a pro (mine were done w/ dyno at Hare), you'll never complain about throttle response. My bike is smooth, no two ways about it.

Save yourself some $...get the carbs tuned up and your suspension settings set by a pro, and enjoy the results.

Maybe it is the difference between my poorly set up bike vs a new shiny bike.
I think my carbs could use a good cleaning and synch, and also the suspension clicker adjustments. it is in stock setting right now, and I heard stock setting is good for a 160lb rider, I weigh in at a hefty 195lbs and am 6'1". So I figure that I could benefit from a good suspension tuning

Why do people obsess over FI so much?

It's far easier to download a map via USB cable vs. pulling carbs, swapping jets and needle washers, ending up with your hands smelling like gasoline and reinstalling carbs...

Yes, but how many people actually do their own work? It seems like a lot of the people who want FI simply want it because it makes the turbo sound when you turn it on. :laughing

Not pointing fingers, and it was really easy to load my PC3's map on, even if it is serial rather than USB. It's just one of those things...people bitch constantly about wanting FI, but a well setup carb doesn't do bad at all...:shocker

hello i own a 01 f4i and i have ridden my buddys 03 rr and the only thing i really notice is the riding position(bars over the triple tree compared to under) id prefer the f4i over the two. my other buddy has a 04 r6 that i ride and nothing compares. as far as the mods to the rr and f4i we have done everything the same PCIII USB, exhaust and BMC air filter and i would have to say the f4i reponds better to the additions. i prefer the the f4i in the corners rather than the rr but if i had the choice between the rr f4i or the r6 its the r6 all the way:teeth

i own a 04 600rr, and its been a beautiful bike! (to bad i have to sell it) but my next bike is going to be a 05 600rr for sure!

a gixxer rider most of my life, and having a ninja now, the hondas are a differnt breed all there own, the f4i is great, and the rr, is even better. if i could afford to buy, right now, the rr would be in my garage waiting for the '08 season, and the f4i would be ridden to work every day.
