Ghetto people working in customer service

WTF? How can any manager deal with working with people who want to act "ghetto" even at work?

Yesterday I had to deal with a rude ass customer service person who kept spitting off random "ghetto" quotes to their co-workers. Then I get an installer who kept saying "why me.........on this day God why me?"

WTF people? You got applied for the job, you got the job. F'ing do it!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and before any of you say why didn't I get a manager. He was right there listening to the whole thing and didn't say a word. Truly a frustrating moment for me yesterday.

I'd say that's a poor attitude, yes.... but not "ghetto". I thought you were going to say they said something like "Yo, my white brothah.... That'll be $24 bux. You got the scrilla on ya?"

I have had a service rep unhelp me while I tried to understand him speak with his fo' hunnid dollah grill.

At Delancey Street Restaurant where they have ex cons work/learn how to operate a restaurant, that is the only place where I have had service that I felt deserved a 20% tip, very helpful, very knowledgeable, you would have never knew they were ex cons.

That is the one place I will NEVER be rude to a waiter cuz they might shank me :cry
 
We have some ghetto people that are hired by the security people my company contracts. There's this one chick who always has the WORST attitude all god damn day. I want to punch her right in the ovaries. It's pretty clear she doesn't want to be there but there aren't any easier jobs than sitting around on your ass all day and looking at people flashing their IDs at you.

I HATE Ghetto people. It's one thing if you do not know any better, but to pass that crap off as 'cultural' is utter BS.

I'm embarrassed when I hear other Blacks perpetuating the negative stereotypes.

This is one of the main reasons that I despise 'gangster rap'. I know I have friends that 'jokingly' tease me about being an Oreo. But, I'd rather be an Oreo than ...... well, I forgot, but you get the point.
 
when you get into lower echelon service jobs, the pay is terrible so it shouldn't be surprising that the people who staff these jobs come from the other side of the bell curve.

I agree Lefty. In my neighborhood, Bayview/Vis Valley/HP, it's sad to see that getting an education is seen as being a 'Buster' or 'selling out'. Everyone is a 'rapper' even though they don't have any albums. It seems that a pair of Jordans is more valuable than an education over here. It's really sad because it's not like they're not disciplined because I see Grandmothers and Grandfathers whoop the little ones but the parents are ghetto. Apparently the influence from the parents and friends/peers are stronger than the influence from the Grandparents. I have a neighbor whose son in law double parks their car and smokes weed in there. When the grandson got older, around 15 or so, he smoked weed with his Dad in the car. :sighs
 
I hate people with bad attitude who talk the MTV gangsta lingo in a customer service oriented environment, y0.....

Damn straight! :mad And people look at ME when they witness ghetto antics. I'm like, what the hell are you looking at me for? I don't know these people.

On a slightly different tangent...I have often been teased for sounding "white", sometimes by members of this very board. Pisses me off no end. SO, let me address this with a question: if I sound so non-ghetto, in your rather ignorant opinion, then tell me, just what is a black man supposed to sound like?

People usually bluster out some lame answer when I ask them this with a serious expression. Some folks just need to STFU.
