I need to get a jacket I don't think my normal hoodies are going to do me anygood if I were to crash. I need something that I can wear all day at school as I will have no where to put. It needs to be pretty light wight, cool in summer and warm in the winter and cheap on the wallet sorry I'm not strapped for cash. Is there something for me. Thanks.:)

Up at Cobb it's cold as f/ck!!

Check the textile stuff: http://www.cyclegear.com/cat_disp_new_col2.cfm?L1=3&L2=10&L3=23

Where are you going to school? How far is it for you? Mendo? SRJC? My thoughts "too hot to wear my gear... too hot to ride." I understand walking around with your jacket does suck but the chicks dig it. :) You might want to invest in another helmet for those impromptu rides lol You can also take a nice ride to Northbay motorsports in SR. Go try everything on.

Middletown High. 10 minutes. I like my scorpion. Well I liked the price I have to pay everything myself. I hate northbay. Everytime I've tried to buy something they don't even negotiate plus the staff sucks. I was there last week. In about 1 year I'm gonna go t the JC, but I'm gonna start riding to clearlake soon probably for work everyday. I may go to work for piedmont lumber this summer.

since you are looking for a do all swiss army jacket

i would recommend the Joe Rocket Super ego. It's a leather/textile hybrid jacket. basically in the summer you can zip away areas to reveal a mesh textile jacket.

in a crash, textile and leather should save your hide equally. but textile jackets usually need to be replaced after a crash, like a condom. leather, depending on the grade, can withstand a few crashes.

joe rocket is fairly inexpensive as well

thumbs down on the super ego. I crash tested one at low speeds of about 15mph and the whole forearm area shaved down completely and the seams got busted. and the leather was cracking from just putting it behind my chair and leaning back

did it save your butt?

hmm sounds like it did its job

as to the leather cracking...i don't know what to say, perhaps you bought one that had significant uv damage.

i've had leathers from various manufacturers dainese, joe rocket, alpinestars, kushitani, rs taichi, spidi - never ever had any of them crack in a reasonable amout of time. I mean atleast 5 years of ownership

I recommend the moto gp perimeter textile jacket it is for $49 at newenough here is a link Jacket

I wear a leather motogp tt jacket to school and it is not a nuisance I just put it in the back of my chair. And for my classes that are in auditorium style rooms I sit on the edge and put all my gear beside me.

I also went down with a motogp leather jacket and I barely even scuffed it and I was going faster. The quality of the leather in the joe rocket jacket was inferior it feels like a silky synthetic leather and not rugged cowhide.

for the price ($300) I expected better quality, it felt more like a $75 jacket. But it was my first jacket and didn't know much

each crash has different dynamics

i have crashed on the race track, in the canyon and on the freeway

guess which one hurt the least and resulted in the least amount of damage?

coming down into turn 1 at Fontana at over 100 mph, the bike low sided, grounded down my slider and my foot peg and some paint, and that was it

my leathers took a bit of abuse

the most abusive crash was being knocked off on the freeway at 25 mph - i bent the frame and forks and received a concussion

jackets are for protection, if they protect you, they protect you and thus did their job

true it did protect me, I still think the quality in construction is not as good as other jackets that I have owned and those other jackets were much cheaper. I think the high price tag is because it converts to a mesh jacket

a jacket and helmet aren't the only pieces of gear you should be wearing! don't forget the rest!

when you be prepared for a crash and think about which parts of your body you wouldn't mind getting all rashed up. thats right none of them.

you got a good deal on your bike it would be wise to invest the extra money into some gear.
