So my beloved Power Race PR series are no longer available. Michelin came out with the Power Ones, But, the BT-002 are too, on the way out, in come the BT-003.

I've ran Michelins pretty much my whole riding career (3 years). Pilots Powers on the street and Power Races at the track. With the big shift in the winds, MotoGP going Bridgestone and both companies with new tires on the market, I would like honest opinions on both the new Power Ones and BT-003.

I like the quick turn in of the PRC and have had excellent tire wear with the PR5 on the rear, running 2:14's at t-hill and 1:49's at Laguna. Unfortunately I have absolutely nothing to compare them to.

I hope to get some honest responses, then enjoy pissing contest:twofinger

Well,

I think the times bracket your in combined with the power of your bike probably is contributing to the mild wear on the tires. I am a big fan of bridgestones, have BT-002 and BT-016s on my bikes.

I didnt notice much difference in tire life between different DOT race tires back when I was doing track days. Id get 2 days out of a set, running right around 2:00 to 2:04 at Thill.

Some buddies switched to slicks and got one more day, out of them FWIW.

I got 4 days out of my first set at t-hill, some the the wear was contributed to suspension with dave moss help clean up, but some of the damage was already done. My second set one day at t-hill one at laguna have little to no tearing. thats what i meant by excellent tire wear...

appreciate the input!:thumbup

The power ones have been great to me, the front end feels much better as far as feedback compared to the prc, the side to side transition is also much more smooth and precise. There is nothing wrong with trying different tires to find what "speaks" to you. Many tires are great but you have to find what language you can understand, so you can give the right input back into the bike based on the output (feedback) of the tire. Trying different tires can be expensive though. The other aspect is the fact that while you are still learning, it is good to reduce the tire change variable and be able to simply concentrate on your riding.

You should be able to get 6-7 days out of the BT003s at your pace, liter bike guys can get 5 days out of them at 2:00 pace

I have 3 days so far on mine and they still look very good

Josh, go with Pirelli if you like quick turn in

Tires are expensive, that is why im looking at the bt003 due to the fact that they are cheaper than the power ones, but seem to be comperable.

I know im still learning, but the issue is my tire of choice is no longer available. So I am going to have to change my type of tire after about 2-3 more track days, I don't want make a snap decision when it comes time and waste 300 bucks

I don't think id have the trust with take offs, there are a lot of liers out there.

Even if they are toast it's not gonna matter yet, they will last you one trackday to try them out, which is the whole point anyways....Robbie
