Has BMW lost it's mind..or found it?

130 Nm torque at as low as 2000 RPM... that's about 90lbs/ft. (if I'm not mistaken)

Long wheelbase... I think it's good to have (not too long of course). My bike has 62.2 in wheelbase. And this Monday I rode the K1300S with 62.4 in WB. No biggie. Both bikes handle the twisties really well.

And if any, it helps to put the power down to the rear wheel faster than anyone can on the liter bikes. :)

Razel, I'll put you on the demo wait list. :teeth

It's pretty neat. And I can somehow see the family line...

Al, put me down right after Ray... Unless he bins it, then I'll resume the list on the replacement... :teeth

It's gonna suck, no one buy one.

So that in 5 years I can buy one for 1/10th of retail, new.

Thanks!

the Benelli-6 engine was an e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d turd, a 1.5x-copy of the CB500 -

look at the Wopper's square-cornered, unfinished-looking cylinderhead fins -

Except for the nice little opinion fact that it remains one of the best sounding bikes... Ever.

kestrel,

agreed, Sir!

stock Benelli Sei music greatly exceeded any stock Honda,
and the sheer aural audacity of aftermarket Benelli 6-into-6s [pre-'Corse' silliness] was delightful

this red cafe' special is pretty nice eye- & ear-candy:

back to these strong new BMWs -

can you pick em out by ear @ track, like a Duc or Buell or Tri 675?

Spotted in LA...

Courtesy of Google Translate:

"What looks at first like a Kawasaki GTR turns out on closer inspection as a new BMW LT with the first time last fall presented new six-cylinder inline engine.

Today we received an interesting mail one of our readers: "Dear TF-editing, on my vacation by the U.S. in April, I was at a gas station near Los Angeles motorcycle accident this unknown to me before the lens. The driver spoke German, perhaps there is a new, camouflaged BMW? Perhaps the photo is of interest to you ... "

That's very well, because it is unmistakably presented here at a yet unknown, BMW, probably the most well-packaged new six-cylinder, the end of last year was. Among his key data include 55 degree slope, 1.6 liter, power 160-170 hp and above all, a decent torque, that is to let go even at 2000 rpm whopping 130 Nm.

The BMW suspension is a familiar commodity, that is an aluminum-tube frame, front wheel suspension and Paralever rear. Striking are the long wheelbase, the voluminous muffler and far to the driver hinragende handlebars. The windshield goes electric and down, the suitcases are integrated into the vehicle, the rearview mirror, in contrast to the previous LT not embedded in the cladding, but sit at separate instructions booklet. LED panel embedded into the center ¹ s are used as daytime running lights. The new K 1600 LT is very likely this year at the Intermot of 6-10. Presented in October in Cologne.

Who once the report of November at the launch of the BMW "Concept 6 would read," bikes, who has the chance."

Just my 2 cents on the CBX vs Benelli Sei. I am lucky enough to have owned both. The Honda was stock. It was fast (for it's time). It was smooth, quiet and very powerful (100hp which was outrageous for it's time). On the other hand, the Benelli was far from stock. It was a full on factory cafe racer replica. It had a 6 into 6 slightly baffled megaphone exhaust. Nothing short of a "breathed on" Ferrari sounded like that bike. It would turn heads wherever I went with it. Even on the freeway, drivers up ahead of me would turn their heads to see what the hell was coming up from behind them. A howling, screaming Banshee is the closest I ever came to describing the sound that came out of that motor.

Nice sounding Benelli. But it's still no match for a comparably prepared CBX.

BARFer Mike D's Tyrannosaurus X, a CBX that raced in AFM Super Dinosaur class, was an incredible aural treat.

Anyone know Mike? Maybe he's got some onboard video to show just how good that bike sounds.

I will send Mike this link tonight.

Gary was a big part of that project also. We lost him a few months ago. Huge loss.
