I was SHOCKED at how badly some of you guys take care of your bikes! I saw more chains that were either guitar string tight, so loose they would drag, kinked, dried up, rusty, etc.. then tires...ohhh why on earth would ANYONE wanna ride on some brands i saw?? touring tires really???

Then i saw blown forks seals...duct tape holding things together, etc.. i have to say i see this at every trackday i go to and its getting out of hand. You guys NEED to take better care of you shxt! it affects the others riding at the same time as you.

Chain maintenance cost you nothing to upkeep. WASH your bike before the event..then you might see a leak ahead of time or something else.

Take some pride guys. Its really sad how bad some of your guys (all trackdays/parts of the country) take care of your bikes! No one needs BST or Ohlins but for Christs sake...upkeep them. If you have worn or not the right type of tires, BUY SOME, steal your buddies, or borrow a set of take offs.

Think about it guys...an hour or two before the events goes a LONG ways. You take time off work and spend $150+ to do the event..why risk not being able to cause you never look at your bike??

Maybe the Tech guys should be getting more strict? If people cant bring their bikes in good working condition to a track day, then they deserve to lose there $$$ and get turned away, or fix it before you enter track. I would hate to have gone down because some fuck tards chain came off because it was to lose, and that slipped by tech. Just saying.....

yeah its hard im sure, again this was at the last THREE events i attended..1 in cali, 1 in oregon and 1 in washington...

I know im overly judgmental on the bikes but still...just scary what folks will TRY to ride on...

I have bright yellow duct tape throughout my bike. I use it to denote things I have touched and to double check - yellow grabs my attention :twofinger

My number plates are even made out of yellow duct tape

Elitist :twofinger

I'm more worried about the things tech can't see like filters and plugs. Personally I don't care if my bike's washed and pretty but I do care that it's safe and shit's not going to fly off of it.

I've yet to hear of any duct tape related crashes :p (I use cable ties)

1. keating has NO upper body strength so 10lbs is too much for him

2. i would never trust the "pre lube" ;)

3. Its not the trackday responsibility wholly. honestly people need to take pride and CARE of their own rides!! Its THEIR safety they are risking the most.

4. guys, WASHING your bike or keeping it clean is something that helps you FIND BEFORE it gets bad, an issue. when they are filthy pig dirty you cant see a small oil leak that might be big once at high rpm/loads at the track. Im not saying you need to have a magazine quality bike..but when i see chains rusty and guitar string tight...thats lazy thats all. No excuse for being lazy. Sell the sport/race bike and buy a Vespa.

Didnt EDR have a gsxr forsale with a beat take off in the front and some random harley tire in the rear? :twofinger

:laughing best to date was the one on CL we found that had "Custom EDR Swinging arm" :rofl it had an "EDR" decal on the swingarm so that must mean its a "kit" arm huh?

oh and that EDR bike with the beat to shit front take off and Harley rear tire on it?? Yeah that was on Lenny's R6 last year..and yet he still smoked everyone :twofinger it wouldnt be fair to give him NEW tires...Burpo and Nekimken2ndagaingain cry enough..

....ahhh wish I had a track bike so I could show you how I keep my bikes!!! there always 100% ready to roll with no issues! ..I wouldnt risk riding with a half ass bike! ...I went to test ride a busa a year or so ago, drove all the way to los banos, and the guy rolled out a busa that was dripping fork oil like hell, and dripping engine oil on the exhaust!! he said, well do you want to go for a ride on it? I said hell no, jumped in the vette and came back to SJ!!!

ive had that shit happen!

fucking CL.

dude had a clean bike posted in sac on CL so me and the GF drove all the way to sac and he rolls up on a rashed bike and I was like is this it? and he was like yea that picture is a few years old but its the same bike! f--k i was so pissed.

You'd have to define "touring tires." I was running Super Corsas yesterday, but I've run a BT023. I saw a guy yesterday with Pirelli Angels. Judging by his speed, he didn't need anything stickier.

Damn my chain was bad and it was new??????? holy crap what I do eric. I meet you for 2 mins and you already trying to tell me sumthin ?

:)

Geeeeezzzzus Eric, don't you have some enginas to build? You bitching your ass off today on BARF.

My first day as a tech inspector for a trackday provider, dood rolled up a dust covered ducati 749 with new tires, ever other inch of the bike was covered in a thick blanket of dust as if it had been sitting for a year and came staight out of an old shed. I called the head master dood for the track day provider and told him this bike should be inspected closer out of the tech line, he said no, and passed the guy through. Middle of the first session the Duc died out on the track and had to be picked up. Master inspector dood came and found me and said he will never go against my judgment again....I saw the pressure to get bikes on the track, we all wanted the customer to have a good day, but damn its your OWN fault to lose your day cause your bike was not prepped properly, it is a safty thing you know.
Talking about blown seals.....One day at Button Willow, a cat rode his brand new Ducati up from San Diego... I looked down to check his brake pads and forks, axle and such when I Spie the ghastly fluid pouring down the lower fork leg, new Ducati, blown fork seal, shit happens! :rofl

I hate it when someone on a CBR600 shows up to Infinion without their wheelie bar installed.

Well, now I know what to do with my old 4x6 and Ez-Up. Mobile Mechanic at trackdays. I'll call my business "FTW LLC". Slip the head tech $50, and all of the EDR tech failures will come my way. Heck, maybe I'll do it for free, just as long as no one "Sheens"* me.

Agreed, trackday tech in my experience has been a) too inconsistent from provider to provider and b) too focused on keeping people on the track, despite the condition of their bike. I mean, it's easy enough: FCN: Fresh tires Clean bike No leaks, lightbulbs loose parts or mirrors. Why can't this be an industry standard?

my last event, the rider in front of me as we lined up to get on track for the session told the track marshal that she thought i was leaking fluids all over the place. my bike was filthy with dirty drip stains everywhere.

i then told the marshal that i was the only guy on track for the rain 2 sessions prior, so of course my bike was filthy. :laughing
