Do you believe in the ideal-age-difference-in-dating formula?

So I've come across this formula a number of times in the last couple of years. It's a formula to determine the ideal age difference between a guy and a girl for dating/relationship/etc. The formula is:

((Guy's Age)/2)+7=Girl's Age

For the math-challenged, say you're a 40-year old guy, your ideal chick's age would be 40/2+7=27 years old.

I know a couple of married couples who have age differences consistent with this formula.

Your thoughts?

(Of course, one's age is not constant so the formula works only during a short period of time in your relationship).

Use what ever formula you wish.
 
that's not the Ideal formula, that is the "lowest you can go" formula. and yes....it works pretty well.

Which makes it completely useless for relationships. Like others have said, it's supposed to be the youngest age a guy should "date" (tap).

And using that formula in reverse, I sure as hell wouldn't want to date a guy that old... ick.

I cant find the exact quote right now, but its something to the effect that the ideal marriage age for men and women is like 37 and 18
 
I call BS on that. I'm 32 and I don't want a relationship with a 23 year old. At that age they're still too dumb and don't know what they want. Simply dating, sure I'd give it a shot, but probably wouldn't take it very seriously.
 
No matter how old I get, I always seem to find the single (no kids) women that get to do fun stuff I'm into are 26. I know I'm not on their "to do list" and the generation gap is too great to make it work long term, but , , ,

even as a wing man (keep me from bad decisions), I come off as a rich guy & escort.
 
After dating girls younger, older and the same age as me I've learned one thing...

funny i was JUST going to post and say my ideal age would be 32-33. which is a good age for me since i prefer older guys to guys my own age. but apparently im still too dumb to know wat i want :laughing


hoping most guys your age dont have this sort of mentality :laughing
 
That's just from what I've seen and experienced, especially after dating a few older women. Are always exceptions Kim :)
