Ohh don't get me wrong the bike will wheelie by itself out of corners. Its the long wheelies that scurs me. You don't know the number of kids i have disappointed when they see me on my SMC ,give me the universal wheelie signal and I look away cause i can't wheelie at will.

I need to start practicing on the 450 EXC. The stock exhaust is quiet, but it gets so damn hot. Takes over an hour to cool.

I put sliders, engine case protector and GPR Steering damper. The rest of my money goes to tires.

BTW I feel like such a pussy, this is how I got my SMC home from Sacramento to bay area when I first got her.

When are you getting one?

How can you not wheelie this bike? Shit, yesterday I accidentally wheelied it for like 3 blocks just expecting the front to come down when I upshifted but it never did. And then there was that 1.5 mile wheelie with 2 corners stacked in the middle of it...:laughing

Anyways, I can't give up the stock exhaust. So quiet, so good. See 1.5 mile wheelie with 2 corners in the middle for reference. :laughing

Maybe in the next few months? My Husky should be back from the shop soon, and I really want to ride them back to back first. (even though my husky weighs 260lbs and has 60hp) so it may not be a fair comparison.

Still, it would be nice to have a street SuperMoto.

I have to say Stan, once you ride the KTM, you'll be convinced. In fact, I'd suggest a trip to see Don up at Scuderia. I'm positive he will arrange a test ride for you.

I really liked the 690, but the asking price for a new one is crazy!

Crappy pic of my bike I took the other day. Once I get my new plastic and graphics on it I will take some proper pics.

I have ridden a 690 SMC, and I have owned a 625SMC.

I have been this * close to buying a new 690 SMC from Mr. Lemelin, but I have a thing about paying retail.

I've never paid retail at Scuderia.

By paying retail, I mean buying from a retail store with my money:)

All my bikes have been nearly free (including the 625 above). I have a big issue with paying money out of my own pocket for bikes.:)

But the money for repairs on your bikes comes out of your pocket, no? :teeth

Mine has sliders and the KTM hard parts tubeless bicolor wheels...besides that, it's pretty much stock.

And wheelies are just practice...keep at it and it'll come.

I really think for a street sumo you can't beat the 690.

Buy a used one for half of retail. That's what I did ;)

Yeah, I'm not sure what I'll get next. Too many choices, but a big bore street sumo is definitely on top of the list. I like the Hyper a lot though, but different class bike.

damn you guys with your fancy european tards! My turd DRZ needs a new owner. :x

I'm back in the game. I just picked this up...

http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357635

I wanted a stone reliable, low maintenance street tard that gets great mileage. I've already done the DRZ thing (twice) and had a Husky 610sm. I've never owned a Honda until now, so I can now say I've owned all the big 4 Japanese bikes (along with the Husky and a Duck)...

Go with a 525 EXC, it scores a 2.5 out of 3 and gets an extra point for it's fun factor.

Stone reliable? Check!
High milage? Check! I get mid 30s to mid 50s depending on the ride.
Low maint? Not bad as the only valves that move & need to be checked/adjusted are the intakes and I can do that in the field it's so easy. Oil is silly easy so it shouldn't even be considered maintenance.

For the little effort needed to keep this engine this bike is ridiculous fun!

Fun:Effort = 100:1:thumbup

Hey everyone. I'm new to the Bay.
