Many of you have seen posts from the old site, but this new CHP Traffic Incident Information Page is something out of a bad dream! :wtf

I guess they never heard of the saying 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it', and especially don't make it worse than it was before!!!

I guess it should come as no surprise that it's written in ASP. :|

Awhile back, somebody posted an XML version of the incidents. I couldn't find the link anywhere and would like to have an alternative to the P.O.S. that now exists on the CHP site.

My alternative: Bay Area CHP Motorcycle Incidents

pretty legible to me
Not when they truncate the output so that anything past the first 15 lines is lost. And their site used to remember which station you were interested in. No more. And, the design is like something out of the late 90's. In all, an exceedingly unprofessional job.

It will probably change for the better. We're trying to implement a new network system between the radio/dispatchers/patrol cars and its got some technical difficulties. If you look at the Sacramento area logs where the test is going on, you'll see how crappy the logs look compared to Golden Gate

Is knowing what the CHP is up to that important? Are you constantly on the road?

Looks about the same to me.

(And soemthing just happened at Skyline and Alpine...)

Detail Information
7:35 PM 1 ALPINE IS CLOSED AND PRTY BEING LIFE FLIGHTED TO STANFORD - PER 91-20
7:26 PM 2 1039 REDLINE TOW W/ FLTBD
7:11 PM 3 SMSO LL REQG ETA
7:01 PM 4 SMSO HAS STARTED FIRE / 1141
7:01 PM 5 MID PENINSULA PARK RANGER 1097

maybe it's because they're not really designing it for the general populace? don't wanna state the obvious, but there are probably a lot of people who don't even know about this page. and even some of the people who might be interested in this page aren't really geeky enough to figure out what all that gobbledy-gook means? it's nice to know all that info is available, but if i REALLY wanna know what's going on in CHP communications, i'll learn how to decipher what they're taking about. i don't think it's really up to the CHP to make it palatable to me, Mr. Civilian.

Yeah, I couldn't believe they spent more time & money, to make the shit more fck'd up, bulky, and cumbersome. :wtf Maybe it's better for the cops?

I'll bet there's some little bs software enga-neer prick, with slicked back hair, roll'in solo in the commute lane, in his $80K Audi right now; laugh'in ta da bank! :laughing

I'll bet the primary targeted audience is the folks that give out traffic info over the air (TV/Radio). They get a cheat-sheet for the cryptic parts and they don't have to get on the phone and bug dispatch about traffic. Even other agencies for that matter ...
