My neck rubbed against the collar a lot when going on long twisty ride from turning the head left and right. This create neck rash and irritation for me. What do you guys wear to prevent this? I've seen Under Armour Cold gear that has a mock neck but i can't find one for summer/spring. thanks!

I have the same problem with one of my jackets I was going to find a leather shop and have them modifiy the collar. its so bad i quit wearing that jacket.

A dickey? Ascot? Cravat?

I usually end up using the second button with the first snap to widen the collar out. You could also put an additional snap on the leather to reposition the collar snaps (i.e. moving the collar snaps off to the side).

Btw, is the rash green?

I use spinach or arugula. Collard greens are too rough. :laughing

Srsly though, I always wear a turtleneck or mock turtleneck under my leathers. Even in hot weather I usually wear a light fleece vest which has a high neck to prevent chafing.

Try a snug polo shirt and flip up the collar.

My jacket has neoprene at the collar. I'd go to a leather shop and see if they could sew some on.

You didn't boil them long enough. Make sure you put a ham hock or some bacon grease in the pot for flavor and texture. Serve with ham and black-eyed peas. Yum! :drool

Alternatively, you can wear a turtleneck t-shirt.

Thanks everyone for voicing what I was saying in my mind about collard greens.

To the OP:
Buy a silk scarf from Aerostich. It's relatively cheap, prevents rash when used properly, helps keep you cool (when dipped in water), and, under the right circumstances, will get you the right kind of attention from the ladies.

This is good advice. I have a Vanson that does the same thing I never wear it. If I ever get enough cash to have a suit made for me it won't have a collar. I hate the way the collar rubs against my neck, especially when it is hot.

Riding is not for the thin-skinned, ya gotta deal with the adversity. Soon enough you'll have a nice callous built up.

Bought a Joe Rocket "motard" style leather jacket a while back, can't remember the exact model. It does not have much of a collar and eliminates the issue altogether.

The problem is the bike. Convert to Superbike handle bars, sit right for where you use the bike, without that tip your head back to be looking where you need to be looking, while in the crouch that is right for the track....and all your problems go away.

You can thank me later...:cool

I had an A* one that would do the same thing. Tried all sorts of stuff, including pounding it with a hammer to soften it. Ended up just giving it away. :dunno

Holy fashion fail. I know a lot of you guys don't get out much. But really, it's the bay area. I am sure you can find a collared polo, golf, tennis, not a t-shirt, shirt. They are cheap and easy. Wear one and be done. I can find a picture of my styling self in leathers with one, but then you all would be shamed into nakedness.

Well, fork - at least you brought up the dang collared polos. So what, if they are pink/yellow checkers and don't match your blue boots and red leathers? I still luv ya' man. I just ain't taking you out for dinner.
