Looking for racer recommended tire pressure settings for a 2008+ ninja 250 with the Rosso II 140 rear & the supercorsa SC1 110 front. Temps are high 80's to low 90's.

Thanks!

Hey Stik, you could start with 28-29 front and 25-26 rear. Depending on your weight and riding style you can make small incremental changes from there. There's other scenario with suspension that could be applied, but i have found this tire combination very durable and the starting points i have given working over a wide range of styles and weights.

If you have any other questions post em up :teeth

I believe those are cold temp settings ...if not I've been doing it wrong! :laughing

my apologies, was posting from phone. That's cold pressures. Add 2-3 for hot pressure :teeth

But it has been my experience with this setup that I can set cold pressures in the morning and the tires have come hot pressures very consistantly. This is with tire warmers or without. Some bikes that I have worked on use the warmers, I currently don't as we are in mid-season weather patterns.

Oh and I have 7 trackdays doing 2 sessions each and a race weekend on a set and someone wanted to buy them from me when I put a new set on for the last race weekend. The old set will be going back on for track days as I am very curious now on how far I can go with a set.

Pirelli really hit the mark for the racers with this combination, although I am sure they are scratching their heads trying to figure out how to really make money. However, typically a 250 racer is a newer racer or someone on a budget and these tires cover confindence inspiring for the new racer, and hit it out of the park on the budget side. Add CT Racings trackside service and it's really a no brainer when it comes to recommending a set of tires to someone.

Regards,
Kaz

Oh and it doesn't hurt to know that this set of tires has been breaking all the track records on the west coast this year ;) So if you're running Road America (I see Wisconsin for location), turns 1, 2, 3, 4 and the Carousel will be a lot faster I would bet :teeth Love that track when I ran it back in the day on my TZ250 and FZ600!

Oh and if you don't already run one, you may want to try a Leo Vince full exhaust system to take advantage of everything the Pirellis can do for ya ;)

To add to what Eric has said, im running the new Leo Vince Corsa exhaust and absolutely love it!

Also just keep an eye on the tires, if you see tearing, try upping the pressures, i had this problem in 100 degree weather last friday, although i overheated my stock rear shock which caused this, you shouldn't have this problem though, but just in case :teeth

Fwiw: experienced racer, but I've relocated to South Carolina. Something about the winters being longer than the summers.......
I'll be at Carolina Motorsports Park, this weekend, as an instructor/control rider for Track Tactics.
Bike setup:
Stock motor (of course)
Area P exhaust
Jetted
Pump gas
Emulators
Springs
Ohlins shock
415 kit
Hotbodies
Woodcraft clipons
Woodcraft rearsets

This is my 6th time on track with the Ninja. I love it more & more every time I have a chance to ride it. Definitely an underrated machine! The limits are very high.
I'm coming off of the Bridgestones, & just by mounting them I can tell the Pirellis are softer.
I also have a Jardine GP1 full system, that I'll be swapping onto the bike for Sunday, for a good back-to-back testing. I appreciate the tips, & I'm certainly open to new ideas, tricks, advice!!!! This weekend will be the first time with the Ohlins, Pirellis, & a few other things....nothing like massive changes! LOL

I'll report my feedback!

Oh, and Road America would totally be a blast!!! Well, if it was ever dry!!!

Looks like you are right on track with what we are doing on the west coast and I would definitely recommend trying the Leo Vince Corsair system to finish off the bike :thumbup.

Since you are an instructor/control rider as well, I offer you the following pictures of my tires that will be going back on for track days and what you could probably expect since you're setup suspension wise :teeth

just curious, everyone runs the SC1 front which is awesome... but any feedback on the rosso 2 front tire?

Haven't tested that out. What are you thoughts in going that way Rex, because of the Chuckwalla heat?

A little feedback on these tires. Fortunate, or un....it wasn't my only bike change, so a few other things contributed to the lap times.
First, the bike: Pirelli Rosso 2 rear @ 26psi, supercorsa SC 1front @ 29 psi, Ohlins shock, & brakes that finally friggin work.
I set up the geometry of the bike, & got to work.
No.....literally, got to work. I was control riding/coaching for Track Tactics beginner group. I kinda flogged around all friggin day on Saturday, letting loose & doing a few semi-quick laps in the last session. Initial impressions were; up to temp quick, a waaaaay more flexible sidewall than the BT003's, and good grip....but I wasn't up to pace, yet!
Sunday, I worked the beginner group through the session after lunch, then bumped into the intermediate group, just so I could pass wherever, & get some clean laps. I also had the lead instructor follow me for 2 laps & I followed him for 2. We pulled in to discuss, & went back out & did a 2:02.11. My best on the April 14/15 CCS weekend was a 2:02.427.
Next session I did a 1:57.97. Class track record, (unofficial), is a 1:57.7. I did that time with zero "oh shit" moments. I told Jeremy I had a :56 in me, no doubt. Last session of the day for me, super fatigued, and having some traffic issues.....yes, catching & passing guys on 600's & 1000's......1:56.6!!!! Zero tire issues!! They're awesome! On a better day, less fatigued, no traffic, good temps....I think I can do a high :54 to a low :55.
These things stick! great turn in on trail braking, I literally had not a single issue. None. Nada. "These are great tires", is an understatement!

Oh, & they wear great, too!
The carcass & sidewall are so soft I thought I was going to be able to put them in by hand only! :D

Well I'm not the kinda guy to say I told ya so but...:wink

Glad you liked em Shon, but I would keep it a secret on the east coast and just start swooping up all the wins buddy! :laughing

Now I hope your tire guys are as good as ours are out here on the West Coast. Then you would definitely be enjoying the Cali experience! Great Tires, Great Service, Great Times! :teeth

Now about the Leo Vince Corsa pipe....interested in another .5 or more seconds ;)

I tested both tire for Pirelli in Nov of last year and the Rosso 2 worked well, but the faster times came in with the sc1, suupercorsa. Plus this set up has the fastest times and every track we have been to. Even you Rexbo, dont change whats working well for 4o bucks. The sc1 last 8-10 days hard riding. I get 2 race weekends and 6 trackdays on sc1's
