My next trackbike...R6 or GSXR750?

You'd have to be really wringing the shit out of an R6 to really have fun with it, but when it's fun, it's stonking fun.

If the GSXR 750 and 1000 I've ridden on the track this season are any indication tough, they were very rider friendly and so easy to go fast on. Going fast on them didn't feel as visceral as the R6, which can either be a pro or con depending on who you ask.

The R6 is a beast, I wouldn't even consider a 750 unless I was going to commute on it.

750. More power than a 600, better handling and easier to ride than a 1000. The best all-around displacement for racetrack use...

if you plan on racing at some point... get the bike you will race - otherwise you will have to relearn the nuances of a new bike.

there is a reason the new r6s are racing and winning in the 750 class ;)

It's the Indians, not the arrow? ;)

obviously, the rider makes a big difference

Maybe I should have just said:

I would get the R6 because it would allow me to race up a class, not to my disadvantage since the bike is competitive in the AFM750 class.

more race time tends to lead to a better and more competitive racer

I vote for riding your liter bike. get separate wheels and slicks to change out for track use. done.

I did my first track day, at T Hill, last year on my stock FZ1 ( did 2'12"s). Fell in low and decided to buy a track bike and was seriously thinking of a 1000, since I've never been on a 600. A buddy of mine, who is WAY faster then me (sub 1'55"s at the Hill), told me to get a 600, so I did....a 05 Gixxer 600 (pipe/PCIII etc) and ...... Boy am I glad I listened and got a 600.

750's are so fun, but damn these new 600's are so nimble yet powerful too. :thumbup

600s are fun but peaky and have no low end torque.

I've had a 2007 750 and now a 08 750. The 08/09 is a much much better bike to ride around the track. As you know the 750 is pretty much a GSX-R600 with more torque / power. Go 08/09 if you pick the gixxer route.

I doubt if there is any difference in corner speeds between the 2 bikes. It always took me a while to get used to riding the 2 R6s I had. On the honda and the suzuki, I felt home the first time I jumped on the bike.. I have heard a couple of my friends say the same as well.

Get a 600, get your race license, then have Patrick turn your 600 into a 450! :thumbup
