First Ride (A possable new record for getting pulled-over by cops on new bike)
I don't know, I imagine I'd get into all sorts of trouble on it
So, I'm only just 2 blocks from home on my first ride on the new Grom. I'm at a stop-light waiting for the light to turn green. I look in my rear-views and see what looks like a cop car right behind me.. No worries, (but I really don't care for cops) I am licensed, endorsed and fully insured. It's a really long light, so I start admiring the new little wonder beneath me. I never liked the ugly mandated warning stickers the manufacturers put on top of the gas tanks, so I peeled the one (of two) off and stuck it back on the top of the other larger warning sticker. Of course it left some adhesive behind so I busily rubbed with my thumb til it was stuck to my finger like a little booger. One flick of the finger, good-bye booger. (If I was in my car, I'd be pick'n my nose anyway so...) The light finally turns green and I proceed. Sure enough, the bastard lights me up !
I quickly pull to the side of the road, testing the stopping power of the brakes for the first time ("cause I'm pissed, and I really don't like cops) Turns out to be an all white CHP car w/three cops in it (?). I get the first word in, "Why are you pulling me over ?".
He says, "because you littered back there, you peeled off a sticker and threw it on the ground"...
I said BS and showed him the sticker was still there, on top of the other. and what he saw me flick in fact, was a sticker
booger. So after he realized that I called Bullshit on him, he says people who steal motorcycles often times peel stickers off, or put other stickers on, to try and change it's appearance. I told him "No, it was mine, and that I had just purchased it" (literally, an hour or two prior). Then he comes up with the "well, when I see what looks like a Pocket-bike, and doesn't look street legal, and bla, bla, bla.... I tell him "no, It's a brand new street-legal product from Honda" and that he will be seeing many more of them on the roadway soon.
So I give the guys my license and tell them the papers on the new bike are at home.
O.K., So I guess I'm still pretty pissed-off looking, because the one guy says something like, "whats going on with you today ?" I say, "Whats going on with me today ?"
"You guys are wasting my time, and I don't like getting pulled over for BS reasons ! and I'm going to be late for my daughters first day back to school's, meeting, that's what's going on with me today !"
(Even though the bike is only hours old, I still had time to throw a couple of Ohlins stickers on the front forks and a "Rothmans Racing" sticker on the front fender). So the one cop says... "Did you put that racing sticker here ?"
I said, "wow, yes I did, good eye". He says... "I thought you just bought it, how could you have already put a sticker on it ?" (did I mention I hate cops ?) So I said, (and I use a voice like I'm trying to explain something to a child)) "Lets see, first I buy the motorcycle... then, I bring the motorcycle home.. Then, I open-up the drawer where the stickers are.... I take the sticker, I put sticker on motorcycle. Then waist my fricken time on the side of the road with you guys !!!
By then, they have had enough of me, and hand me my license back. I don't say a word, I just get back on the Grom and gas it. Traffic had backed up there and it's only one lane in each direction, so I (illegally) used the side of the road, passing all the cars stuck in traffic, knowing they would be stuck back there and not able to do shit. plus they (the cops) owed me one anyway!
Maybe when my blood pressure comes down, I'll write an actual report, on
