Best Bay Area bands of all time. What ya got??

That was hip-hop way before....hip-hop.:twofinger That music isn't my cup of tea, but I met those guys years ago. Good guys.

I'm glad they are good guys, but hip-hop is never acceptable. :)

Digital Underground is legit. Wasn't for them giving Tupac a chance, he'd potentially never have been discovered. Tupac as in 2pac as in one of the greatest hip hop artists of all time.

Yeah sorry but digital underground is completely legit!!

Here's a couple that you probably never heard of ( see what I did there?):laughing

Bomb (no known recordings or vids, someone help!)

The Mermen (some might know this one)

The Eric Mc Fadden Experience

No shit? I always thought the ol' Bucket was from da South.

*Edit*

I just checked him, he's another L.A. act, mang. This is about Bay Area bands, not CA bands.

Would have been a good thing for the world. Tupac was terrible.

Hm, I thought BH was local. Who the hell else would write a song called Colma?

I cannot believe it took until page four to remember the GRATEFUL DEAD. Started out as the Warlocks, played in Palo Alto, Woodside, with Ken Keasey, etc.

Local Bands?

Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillit Lickers - SF

Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums with Carmen Getit - Berkeley

Lara Price and the Velvet Plums - South SF

Elvin Bishop - Lagunitas

Angela Strehli and the Blues Broads - Nicassio (Owner of the Rancho Nicassio)

CCR or just Jon Fogerty - El Cerrito

As a major Bay Area phenomenon, I considered including them, but their music is just too awful. I think of them more as a cultural contributor to the Bay Area than a musical one. My Uncle is a deadhead and it always seemed it was more about hanging out at the dead shows than the actual music.

Nah, born in Huntington Beach and got his act started in Claremont apparently.

I'm with Eldirty. Screw all rappers.

FTFY.
