There are hundreds of places to stop to shoot the shit mid-ride. A marked turn out is not one of these places.

Headed South on 9 today, the Prius in front of me signaled as we approached the marked turn out just before my favorite set of turns, but couldnt, because 4 bikes and riders in leathers were hanging out jacking each other off over how sweet their bikes are, or whatever you need to stop in the middle of one of the best sections of turns on 9 for...

C'mon guys. Have some common sense. Please.

they must be for something...who actually uses them to pull off and let faster traffic pass?

Must have been Ducati owners.

There was at least one yellow Ducati there to be honest.

I commute 9 every day from Boulder Creek to Saratoga, and at commute time Id guess 70% of drivers turn out without pressure for me.

last trip up the hill (down here), i came up (fast) behind a CR-V on my way down..25mph in an unposted (55) zone. hung back and waited for the first turnout...which they rolled right by, so i moved closer. they rolled by the second, so i got even closer. at the third turnout, they instead dove left into a turn lane and then veered back out behind me as if to tailgate me instead :wtf , but i just left them behind :teeth

this seems to be the norm i find, rather than the exception; give them an opportunity to hold someone back and they will.

Hwy 9/35 commuter here. Yup, that's a great way to get pulverized. Could they not make it to the hotdog stand?

At least they weren't posing for a photo.. Looking at you, Monster guy parked ON the fog line on 35, getting a sweet sunset shot.

I for sure deal regularly with folks who refuse to turn out, but, my point was, I do my best not to push, and this car was signalling to turn out, but couldnt, because there was a group of motorcyclists parked in the way... Not cool.

Granted I ride the route every day, but, I live up here, and moto commute mainly for that reason, these dudes killed the best part of my ride...

That is another good point, had the car started into the turnout, and I went to pass without seeing them, as I had gapped out behind, downshifted and revved out to about 10k to pass at speed, someone could very well have gotten plowed, I did wind up stacked up on their bumper, which is why I could only make out the tail of one of these four Ducatis.

Oh... those are slower traffic "turnouts"?
I thought they were right side passing lanes. :laughing
(j/k of course)

Ya live in congestion...With so many road users, there is always a few that are doing something to bitch about... So...take it in stride...Deal with it, like it is nothing...Thinking it is something, is bad for your health & well being.

+1

I was hoping my "bitching" might make someone think about not stopping in turn outs, not so much looking to commiserate, or bitching just to bitch.

Thanks for the life advise though, you a therapist?
