The 100K Mile bike thread

This is awesome! That Wee has been more places than most people I know. Didn't Gary J have over 100K on his Ninja 250?

Oh yeah he did. He put more miles on that thing in the rain than most ever do.

That was a few years back.
Here's a recent pic. The bike looks especially bad because it spent a week sitting in the mud up to it's axles after the December monsoon.

I did rings and rebuilt the heads but pistons and rods/bearings are original. The thing wants to outlive me, I'm sure.

I took this pic on my way home from work about three weeks ago. 2009 GSA, bought new in May 2010. just getting broken in I think.. :laughing:ride

:wow

Damn, you get around!

sfdj_tim had well over 120,000 miles on his 2006 ZX6R when the 3rd engine went boom. Yes 3rd engine.

Here is a pic of me, hung over, at the start of putting the 2nd engine in.

My 2004 ZX6RR only has a mere 33,000.

:laughing

You don't look that happy to be doing that. My bike still has the same engine. I had skipador put in a new clutch before I left for Baja and the old one didn't even need replacing.

That's so great! :applause

Congrats! I work right by you. Walked by your bike many many times.

Come say hi.

]Have no idea how to insert pics but hope this works.

Bought the '05 10r new in '05. Belated happy birthday. 107k on the clock and only the horn has crapped out. One valve adjustment 35 k and in spec at 75k. Chain and sprocket at 35k, chain at 75k and chain and sprocket at 100k. Other than that just tires and oil. Has been on a number of 600 mi days. The most boring was the biggest "U" turn from 1/2 moon throught Bakersfield then back up to Bridgeport to avoid snow over the passes.

The '01 dyna (the one off the stand) has a bit over 120k Since new the only time she broke down was due to a stator at 100k. Everything else is original including the belt. She got me home however. Best trips on the dyna were up to Canada.

edit: Weirdest on the '01 was from Ventura to Carson City via 395. Made her all purdy the night before. Left after work from Ventura and it started to rain a bit just north of L.A. Ducked under an overpass to wait out what I figured was just an afternoon thunderboomer. Gave up went up to short of Mojave where the CHP had the road blocked due to a flash flood. Stood there next to the bike for about an hour in leather jacket, white t shirt and jeans. Phucking soaked. Brush and mud crossing the road. Asked CHP if I could go ahead and he said "fine if you can swim". Crossed but concered about water getting into the trans through the vent. It never let up and had to ride w/ my right hand in front of the open K&N because the bowl kept filling up w/ water. Hail over the highest parts of 395. Knocked on my friends room in CC at 5am. Spent much of the next morning at a coin wash thing getting the mud out of the fins.

The lowest mi bike in the garage is my kids ningette. 5k. Figures.

We've been keeping track of the high mileage bikes that have come in to do their own work here:

OP - looks like it's time to update your numbers :)

I bought a used K7 DL650A with just under 80K miles last fall. The PO still has the vid up; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xA-Yb9YN88

I got it for a song because of the high mileage and lack of service records and the complete set of lefty/righty low-speed drops. Its in the garage right now as I am going through it stem to stern. I think it will easily go to 200K but maybe I am optimistic.

I'd say so. Looks like the last mileage for me is before the trinity Alps ride in July, 'cause I remember taking a photo of the odo at 88,888 on the first day of that ride.

Sometimes I want to swap the SV1000 for an SV650, as mileage would increase quite a bit, weight would decrease, tire life expectancy would decrease... but the ability to cruise at triple digit speeds effortlessly would also decrease.

Took this pic while out riding this afternoon. 2009 BMW GSA I bought new in May 2010.

40K a year on your bike, nice. How has it treated you?

01 GS euro pig 118,666. Bought in 2003 with 7 k, haven't ridden it much the last few years. Did a final drive at 46k, we thought we got the bearing in correctly, painful cause I was in Utah. Bought a Real Strom last fall with 52k, my new long distance favorite. 93 VFR over 60 k, FZ1 has 58k. Buy stock in oil companies you'll feel better.

two wheel tramp = cootz. Okay, now things make a bit more sense.

I just saw this....yeah, makes more sense.
I thought yet another active female barfer hit the eject button. (no bueno)
(although her post history makes that point again)
Sorry for the threadjack....please continue.

I wandered though a Goldwing gathering that spent the night at Angels Camp Fairgrounds for the night, about 5 years ago.

On the subject of miles... They don't bother talkin miles, till they cross the 300,000 mark.

That's a chunk.
I've had 2 that I rode to 100k

My 851 was sold with the 110K I put on it, my '85 VF1000R's valve train died at 134K, someone bought it, though and said he would repair it.
I've had several that I kept up to 75.
