Mods Posting in a Thread After They Locked It

Let the flogging begin! :party

Soooo anywaaaaay...

Yes, you can report a mod's post in a closed thread if it bothers you.

Oh wow! Let me go back a few months :laughing

I see your point, though the specifics in this case weren't super clear. Tim locked the thread but I don't think he was certain what else he might do with it. It might have been re-opened, it might have been moved.

Meanwhile, I checked my subscribed threads list, saw activity in the thread, didn't notice the lock icon and clicked to the first unread post. Looked like an open thread to me, so I replied. Learned later the thread was locked. Decided to let my post stand.

Crash analysis should be a place where a rider can post honestly and not be attacked. I've felt that way forever. The difference this time is the rider isn't being honest and is even revising his account to avoid taking responsibility for the crash. The thread should really be in General and re-opened, if you ask me.

tzrider, I pm'd you a couple hours ago. Guess it didn't go through.

I don't think I've ever read a thread in CA but curiosity caused me to take a peek and see what all the fuss was about.
As far as that particular thread goes, unreal someone else has to pick up the tab for how numbnuts was lane splitting.

:rolleyes All $13,000 or whatever it was ;)

Proud of that, are you?

Proud? The better word is thankful. Between the cost of a new bike and legal fees for a separate matter, it was a welcomed blessing. Not being able to run for 4+ weeks hurts me and my career as well, so I certainly don't feel bad about it. :)

Meanwhile, the other person involved pays his deductible, suffers an insurance increase, and has a point on his record.

Glad you got yours but sure hope you don't do that again. You're the second person I know who came up 0% at fault in a lane sharing incident that could have been avoided. Thank goodness you aren't maimed or dead, but you do come off as pretty smug.

Well, shiet! Why did enchanter close that thread, if we are just going to continue it, here?

Sometimes there are things to be learned just from the interaction. In this case, I hope others will learn that even if you are judged in the right by the system, you can still die or get maimed, if you aren't careful.

True, but maybe it's just karma. I mean this guy probably would have hit and run if he could have gotten away. Didn't try to help me at all - and when I was in shock being loaded on a gurney he was in my face harassing me for my insurance info - seriously, then pulled away by CHP. He shouldn't have tried to block me from passing but I won't let another dumb car driver have the opportunity to pull that stunt again. Luck runs out eventually.

Oh, and they took 80%, my insurance company blamed him 100%. Don't know about his end of things, but I'm guessing he isn't going to try and sue my insurance. Not sure if their insurance will go after the last 20%, maybe.

But wait, we need a mod to come in for the last word :rofl

Sorry Korn...

I will address this in front of a real keyboard tomorrow afternoon.

For me I reply in concept because of business. Explanation/ action.

Certainly user slams are not a good thing. Like punching a guy with his hands held.
Weak links post demands attention. Not sure how many mod meets Made where real face to face actions take place, but the statement beckons attention.

I do believe reported posts still work in closed threads but look forward to confirmation.

More tomorrow afternoon.

I closed the thread because the OP didn't appear to want, nor was he receptive to input. In the past I would have bounced the thread to another forum, but in this case I thought it would just be throwing him to the wolves. I'm quite sick of the dog-pile that I've seen on BARF all too often.

I had a few seconds to close the thread but didn't have time to post an adequate explanation. Next time I'll ensure to post 'closed'.

For a moment I was confused. I thought you closed THIS thread because the OP was not receptive to input :facepalm

Face to face is a much better medium for communication.

WRT this thread, tzrider and planegray cleared up the majority of my problem with mods posting in closed threads. I do think the think before you type and "don't be a dick" MO should apply to mods as well as members.
