Driving a car down 101 S past Morgan Hill, and an '00-'03 GSXR750 comes lanesplitting past cars at 85 mph (danger!).

Just as the GSXR passes us on the right, a large wrench falls off the bike from some mysterious location. Couldn't tell if it was from the rider's backpack, or it somehow slipped out from under the seat. But it was a damn big wrench.

Luckily, since the rider was high-speed (danger!) lanesplitting, the wrench bounced in-between the lanes and didn't hit any cars that I could tell. If it had, that would be some serious car damage.

And then the rider was gone, accelerating fast. Cool story?

Riding my road bike one day, I came across a 15" Crescent wrench on the roadside.

It's in my plumbing tools now. :)

Damn big for a jersey pocket, but needs must.

Maybe he had it tucked inside his jacket?
I remember I used to stick things in mine.
Never a wrench though

Scary story! Wish it wasn't so close to bedtime!

I was splitting on the 101 a month ago and came across a motorcycle chain on the ground right between the 1&2 lanes...

I had a wrench fall off of a bike once.

I had just gotten a new 1984 RZ-350 and was checking the rear wheel adjustment. For some reason I left a wrench on the axle. I decided to take my son for a quick ride on the back. A couple of blocks from home I heard it fall off, so I pulled over to the side and my son hopped off to go get it. Unfortunately, the road was crowned with quite a bit of slope at the side and he launched off of the passenger footpeg on the way to go get the wrench. That put me in an awkward position with the bike tipping "downhill" and it being more than 100 pounds heavier then any of my previous rides. That left me with the embarrassment of going to the Yamaha dealer a week after purchase for a new brake lever and bar end weight to replace the broken and scratched up pieces. :laughing

I would claim that nothing like that has ever happened again, except for the time I didn't put the oil filler plug back in place after a Ducati Monster oil change, spraying oil all over the right side of the bike and me. Gotta learn to double check that everything is back in place before that test ride after maintenance work. :cool

My bike broke down. As I paced along the side of the road, waiting for my rescue trailer to show up I found:

a) Maglight, 3 cell, Rodney King special edition.
b) Carpet installers hook nosed trim knife.
c) Old, old Playboy magazine, Pamela Anderson edition, in a plastic bag.
d) Law enforcement note book with dates, times, observences.
e) Empty lady's purse.

Almost an archeological study on the sides of our roads.

I have done my fair share of "volunteer" work with Cal-Trans picking up garbage along the side of the freeways of southern california. Those items listed above were the fun things to find. Used needles were not so fun to find, same with piss bottles / shit bags. Finding a rolled up wad of $20's was pretty sweet, each of the 12 of us got around $140 I think and the supervisor bought us lunch with the extra $20 :laughing Rumor has it there was a couple keys of booger sugar found on the side of the road at some point as well.

I found the nicest nail puller when my bike broke down at the 24 and 680 S split. I actually used it this weekend to open a beer. I love road side gems. There is a free wrench somewhere on 101 s, past morgan hill.

A giant tool fell off a motorcycle?

What club were they in?

Learn how to read, man! The post clearly states that a giant wench fell off. The correct follow up questions would be, "What club was SHE in?"

My father was following a bike and something fell off and wolloped his car windshield. It destroyed the car windshield, make sure your parts and wrenches are firmly attached, could cause a serious accident.

I saw a race team leave an entire tool-box on the rear wing of a car in the pits at Brands Hatch. People were shouting at them, but they released the car anyway. The next few seconds was everyone ducking for cover as wrenches, sockets etc. sprayed down the pit lane.

On more than one occasion I have been out on trail with someone who forgot/failed to close his tool bag. I just followed along, picking up everything I could find and gave it to him at the next stop. :laughing
