Ahhh....no. The F3 had VERY high-end suspension. That's why it's so desireable today. Cartridge forks, fully adjustable rear shock with remote reservoir. Shit, even the 1994 Honda CBR600F2 had these features (the '91-'93 F2 did not)

Compare that to the bare bones budget crap suspension attached to these low-cost bikes like the R3, Ninja 300...it's no comparison. The fork technology on the 2016 R3 and Ninja 300 was designed in like 1976 or thereabouts. :laughing
 
Silly comparison and off point. The choice is 25 year old second hand parts or modern fork cartridges that were designed specifically for a particular bike, not vs. the obviously budget stock parts.

No ABS option in 2016 on a street bike = fail.

Therefore, I have no interest in the R3.
 
I don't think abs is super important but either way 6k OTD with ABS for a brand new 300 is a good price. I think my former coworker shelled out 6,600 for a non ABS 2014 ninja 300 at east bay motorsports lmaooo

Then proceeded to wreck and blame me..

I'm with you, if talking rear shock. Cartridge fork internals are a different animal.

Glanced at ebay to discover the F3 ship has already sailed anyway, moot. They've proven so popular as fork internal swaps, the quantity is gone.

I like the larger forks on the Yamaha R3, I'd get that bike over the rest.
 
OP, have you considered going for a used bike? Both the CBR and the Ninja can be bought at 3-4K in almost as new conditions. Here is a listing from AKmotors for an almost immaculate Ninja 300 for only 3.8K... On the other hand, someone needs to be buying the new bikes for the used market to be there, so, up to you.

Not so much choice when it come to ABS models, but I am looking at buying used.

I see ABS models pop-up on craigslist or AKmotors inventory every so often. In fact you could call the guy at AKmotors, Abi is his name, and ask him to scout out a used ABS model for you.
The impression I get is that there are a ton of used 250-300cc standard bikes out there, as most new riders like myself start out on one, many on a brand new one because it's hard to deal with buying a used one when you barely have your license and have no idea what you should be looking for. Then, half a year later, the above riders decide that they are ready for that R1, and make an impulse purchase with a subsequent trade in or private sale.
By the way, is that a "Похуй" in your avatar?

A white 300R popped up in the for sale section and I bought it. My wife only wanted white... Go figure.

Thanks everyone for helping, it's quite clear that the 300R is the overall clear winner here.

Here's the bike.

First impressions:

Suspension good, surprised here at how good it handles

Transmission great

Motor good, got it up to 90mph with ease and still had some left. Although it's not as peppy in low revs.

Exhaust note sucks, Grom had much better brapp sound.

Comfort ok, my legs were more comfortable on the Grom.

Seat sucks

Front brake is shit, will need to replace with braided lines and better pads

I am really digging my RC374, its light and nimble around the corners.
2500 miles in 2 months and so far no problems yet.

Maybe just give it a flush and bleed with fresh fluid? Would save you money and time if that brings it up to your standards. It's definitely a base-model brake, not going to suddenly be amazing with a different hose.

Lines are a PITA to change/ bleed with ABS. There's miles of it, and all kinds of nooks where air can get trapped. Gravity is almost always working against you, and no easy way to remove parts to fix that.

I'd just do a flush, get some good sintered pads and call it a day :)
 
Yeah bleed the brakes, new pads should be fine. I could do stoppies on my 2013 ninja 300 all stock parts so it works good enough... Though I still remember the day I got my 636. Lmao. That initial brake jerk realizing how strong the front brakes were... Almost did a huge stoppie on the off ramp in front of a CHP motor on accident ..
