What will it take to convince you of climate change?

Literally posts a report by Chevron explaining how Chevron isn't a bad company as proof they're not a bad company.

Are you going to post up a link to Philip Morris' studies showing smoking is healthy for pregnant women, too? :rofl

Fuck outta here with that sad shit, bruh.

Read your post. You said Chevron denies climate change. The link I posted to Chevron's statement states the opposite. Do you need me to explain it further, or are you awake now? :rofl

Corporate behavior aside, you posted bullshit and got called on it. If you're going to talk shit about people who don't want to face the facts, the least you could do is be aware of the "facts" that you post.

Has absolutely nothing to do with your statement and my response. Fuck outta here with that sad shit, bruh. :rolleyes

I asked you before, and you ignored me: Who is making all this money off global warming, and does it compare at all to the money being made by purposefully denying climate change?
I mean, the petro-chemical business makes billions in profit every year and are the major contributors to not only pollution, but climate changer deniers.

Status quo: Chevron et al make billions while denying climate change is real
Change: Who makes all this money through subterfuge?

I'm not denying that there is money to be made, I'm just curious how profitable it is to pay all those scientists to lie and say everything is fine.

Probably just got used to the usual but since its a good honest question:

Chevron has it's hands in companies servicing climate change interests. The scientists (or those that call themselves such for convenience) aren't the ones making all the money and in fact, the true scientists are rarely the recipients of great wealth, others grab that. They are just pawns.

First, the large money funds science to produce the very things attributed to climate change. Anyone denying that is just as a climate change denier is, ignoring the obvious. I want to hear someone argue and support the idea that the things attributed to causing climate change were not created by those working in the fields of science. Lets put that to rest, that is what happened.

Then let someone explain how the people creating all that didn't know what it was doing. Who came up with of all things "clean diesel"? Marketing. Who went along with it? Scientists and the engineers. Why? Money. They have no idea its all a big lie but go along because of a paycheck? That is just an example but one everyone has probably heard about or seen for themselves.

Then start looking at who is involved as oil companies remake themselves into " energy" companies and are the same companies running or heavily investing in "green" energy. Its all the same companies except for the few. Yet, look where the money flows from tax payers to companies promising innovation and a contribution to the great cause of climate change. The very same who sold you the wonders that caused it in the first place.

Who controls, through various means, carbon credits? Let one pollute because another who really didn't doesn't? What a sham and its marketed and swallowed up hook line and sinker. "Oh Smythe, can you tell the boy to turn up the pool heater? It was a tad less than adequate yesterday. By the way George, where shall we luncheon today, Genevea? I had the jet topped off yesterday". Then they make a show of driving a Tesla to the jetport.

The scientists are just tools in all this. No one digs to see where the money flows and for good reason, like other hot buttons of emotionally charged issues anyone even questioning motives gets subjected to attack on any basis except climate change. They get labeled so that the distraction screens any attempt to find motivation and exactly who is in bed with whom.

How often is history re-written? Frequently as it will now be with the discoveries in Europe regarding the origins of humans. The point? This history too, will be re-written but long after those who created the problems have profited from them.

So, does climate change exist? Absolutely. For many thinking stops right there and then as before, gobble up whatever someone is selling to fix a problem created by the seller. Why? Because it is easier to blame everyone else and then send money to those who claim they know what to do. It removes individual responsibility.

I'd match my carbon footprint against anyone who has a platform spouting climate change is the fault of anyone other than themselves and the interests funding their speeches and seminars. But then I don't go to a store, fill a shopping cart with plastic encased food and other items, put them into a reusable shopping bag and scream about plastic bags, the pollution they cause and the carbon used to produce them either.

Climate change exists but the only thing really changing are the names of the interests selling solutions, the companies and people behind it are the same. Look what they got people to believe, that a $100,000+ electric car created awareness and acceptance for e-cars. Right, the commuter upon seeing a Tesla, runs out to buy a Chevy Volt.

so if I drive my gas guzzling SUV 7 days a week, but also use an electric lawn mower: does that make me a climate change advocate?

also, if I say we ALL have to change our ways, including myself...does that make me a hypocrit and invalidate my conclusions?

Depends on what your login name is. You do not have the correct login name. :x

Yes, we should totally believe Chevron and the other petro companies.

It's not like they're trying to influence anything in the name of profits.
I mean, I'm sure that one report on Chevron's website is the end-all and be-all of their dedication to mother earth. :laughing No way they're still pumping money into denial, right?

You're using a fluff piece on Chevron's website as proof that Chevron is acknowledging climate change. Unfortunately, there's lots of other articles out there that paint a different picture. They seem to go out of their way to keep up the misinformation while publicly proclaiming that their shareholders should be aware of the financial risks associated with climate change.

But let's pretend they aren't paying lip service to climate change...shouldn't they be sleeping in the bed they've made?

I suppose I could sum it up by modifying my original statement? "if Chevron at al believed climate change was real and a danger, they would stop actively trying to discredit it, and they would take steps to fix the issue."

A lot less typing to just say they don't believe it.

It depends, talk is cheap. If you say we all need to change our ways and then point to others and demand they change while you do not, that isn't being a hypocrite, its being a tool.

The climate change movement is possible only because a few people got a larger number to accept that the foundation of science now a consensus instead of fact. That was a subtle but important change which allowed certain interests to inject emotion and money into arguments to sway scientists to agree to things they otherwise never would.

I'm pretty sure science is a constant process of observation and experimentation to strengthen a theory or prove a theory false in light of new evidence. Not just facts.

So let's change your word consensus to scientific theory. Scientific theories can be changed.

Oh yeah ..apparently shows that the corporate PR can keep their brainwashing jobs.

.

Clearly shows these guys (San Diegoans) are a little more concerned this time. Did you miss the part about 20+ degrees difference. Not 5, not 10..

So 20 deg in a stuffy classroom might mean above 110 indoors. No bueno.. :rolleyes
Do they not have air conditioning? Regardless, I don't recall school ever being cancelled because it was "too hot." Even on days when it was well over 100 degrees outside, and we didn't have a/c in classrooms back then.

Correct, many school rooms in San Diego do not have air conditioning. the average temperature is under 80 degrees year-round.

We were let out at 1:00 at South High in Bako if the temps were over 90, because some temp classrooms didn't have a/c.

I really don't understand your argument. Is it:

Climate is real and caused by human activity, but I refuse to do anything about it because the people advocating for change are hypocrites, therefore I am absolved of any need to act.

Or what?

If you're saying that Big Oil paid scientists to fudge the results in their favor I agree with you.
Beyond that, you've failed to show me who is making enough money off Climate Change to pay to keep the subterfuge going.

"Big Oil" would be stupid to NOT look to green energy, as we are rapidly approaching (or have already passed) Peak Oil. I have zero problem with Chevron or Exxon turning to renewable energy. For fuck's sake I'm all for it.

But the idea that they are paying someone to deny climate change so they can profit off climate change is...far fetched?

Unless I've completely misunderstood your post, which is entirely possible. You tend to not answer directly.
If you mean big oil is the bad guy, say that. If you think someone else profits, say that.

I’m telling you , bishes

Your links prove my point that they know climate change is real, thanks for those! :laughing

The difference between your first and second statements are that #1 is false, and #2 is true. :thumbup

This thread is about convincing the deniers that CC is real, and my point is; you'll never convince the "fake news" crew if all you do is come at them with fake news. :rofl

I'll stick with my assessment that if they truly believed climate change was real, they wouldn't be paying people to say it's fake.
Which they do. So I'm not sure how much faith you can put in someone saying 'X' at the same time they're paying to have someone say 'Y'. :dunno

am I to understand that if I am a hypocrit about my thoughts on how I approach human-assisted climate change and what I expect of others, that affects your belief on if this type of climate change is real?

ok, how about this way: how does what I say and think affect the data? If I said "you all have to change your ways but me", how does that affect the measurable acidity change in the ocean? the measurable CO2 change in the atmosphere? The immeasurable waste product accumulation from refineries? etc?
