Notes:

- MotoGP.com: Bagnaia and Ducati sign two-year MotoGP™ renewal

- There is still some speculation about the tire pressure rule for 2024. The rules say no warnings this year. Riders face immediate disqualification rather than a time penalty.
Michelin may lower the minimum pressure for the fronts but only by a fraction. No teams want outright DQ for a violation because its so difficult to maintain the razor edge performance envelope and keep within .01 bar (pressure) for a certain number of laps. DiGi was docked two places at Valencia for being (I think) .01 under the 1.87 bar minimum for just a few laps.

Found an update on the tire pressure rule. Michelin agreed to reduced the minimum to 1.8 bar and the number of laps for which the minimum must not be exceeded is now 60% of race distance (rather than 50% in the past.)

from Autosport.com:

“This winter we reanalysed all the data from last year and redid all the severity tests with circuit-by-circuit simulations,” Michelin motorsport boss Piero Taramasso said.

“After this process we decided to reduce the pressure value from 1.88 to 1.80 bar.
“This will give a little more leeway to the engineers and riders, who will be able to stay between 1.8 and 2.1, having a good range to get the front pressures under control.

“In return, however, we have asked to stick to it for 60 percent of the Sunday race distance and not 50 percent like last year, because we take a little more risk.

“This news was well received by the organisers, teams and drivers. It will be like this starting with the Qatar test and it will be like this throughout the season.”

Can Joe Roberts get a win, now that Moto2 has switched to Pirelli's and ditched the rock hard, no feel Dunlops?

It doesn't look like MotoGP will continue with NBC for U.S. audiences.

Sports media websites are reporting that MotoGP is in talks with Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) to carry the races in the U.S. WBD already has the rights in other countries. We don't know yet which of WBD's properties might carry MotoGP races or whether racing will be shown live.

More details at the sports media website AwfulAnnouncing.com

That might be good. Depends on which entity they throw it on.

US won't likely get live races... perhaps COTA. :dunno

TV package for USA announced.

MotoGP.com: MotoGP™ partners with TNT Sports in the U.S.

MotoGP™ has a new broadcast home in the U.S.! Through an expanded media rights agreement with TNT Sports beginning with this weekend’s Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar, fans across the U.S. will be able to watch every Tissot Sprint and Grand Prix race live in 2024 across TNT Sports’ networks and platforms.

truTV and Max’s B/R Sports Add-On will show every race of this record-breaking MotoGP™ season live, including top quality pre-race coverage. Max’s B/R Sports Add-On will also stream every session for every Grand Prix class across all three days of track activity, including the MotoGP™ qualifying shootout and the Grand Prix races for Moto2™ and Moto3™.

Watching the photo session live now. The Trackhouse livery looks great. Pramac looks really good too. Zarco on the Castrol Honda.. so old school cool.

I think four to possibly win

Acosta, the rookie sensation/Captain Serious putting Gas Gas on the map
M. Marquez because, well, he's Marc. And he's on a rocket, not a nail
Pecco, because he can. And Mav, because he's won it before on a lesser machine.

I'd really LOVE to see Zarco win this for his new team, if not him, then Mir.

Wouldn't an all-Honda podium be hysterical?!:wow:rofl:twofinger

Bagnia has to be the fav to win, but by a small margin.

If Acosta wins it would blow me away. Even a podium would be a :wow

If MM wins I would be really impressed. A podium still impressive but I am not sure that is in the cards.

Digi... do it again man..!!

Rain invades the desert. Moto2 is out on track now.

The Safety God's are evaluating the conditions.
Interesting dynamic with the lights and a wet track.

watching now! :ride

Mr Butch reminded me I’ve been asleep at the switch wrt Mr Ace Cafe Rob’s MotoGP showing of the BT Sport feed at the SFMC, if any BARF Couch Racer’s Corner types want to watch with a few moto-types in a motorcycle venue:

MotoGP, 4pm, Sunday, 03/10/24, in San Francisco

it’s free, and adult beverages are available for purchase. I’ll buy you a drink, if you tell me you’re from BARF. :party

A wet track brought some surprises in P2.
Impressive stuff by some of the guys and understandable caution by others.

Enjoy the :party John :thumbup

Zarco is now old and on a Honda, so that's a lost cause. I'm now Team Binder. He's the underdog to root for.

Aprilia's are looking fairly speedy.
At one point in free practice, both Track house Aprilia's 1-2.

Looking forward to qualifying.

So, it is looking like MotoGP will not be on regular TV (only in a paid App)?

I could be wrong, but it appears that TNT Sports in only on Discovery+.

I have Dish, can someone verify this. Or am I SOL and finally have to give in to paying to watch.

I have Dish as well. I can't figure out how to watch either. Googling TNT sports brings up a bunch of British web results. Did you figure this out?
