I am removing the motor from my bike and im currently at the engine mounting adjust bolt. What tool do I use to remove them? The manual says to use a "pivot shaft wrench and adapter" to loosen the bolts... What the heck is a pivot shaft wrench and what type of adapter do I use? Anyone know how to help? Thanks. :ride

Thanks toe! where do I get one? Would Napa or Kragen have that? Thanks alot man!

Thanks for all the helpfull answers. For some hope, I stopped by Napa and Kragen. Niether place had a employee who has seen or heard of the tool I need.

I called G&B and the clerk could only find the wrench but not the attachment. I also gave the clerk the part # for the attachment, but still, he couldn't find it in the system. He then called me back after an hour or so and told me that he had spoken with the man behind the curtain. The man had told the clerk that the attachment was never manufactured and that's why he couldn't find it in the system. Not knowing what else to do, I did the only thing I could, and come out of pocket $59.00 for half of the tool I need.

I found a website that has the adapter for sale but doesn't display an image of the tool. I called the number and some old lady answered. I gave her my information and she told me she will have her husband call me and let me know if he has the part or if he could get it. The adapter is priced on the website for $75.00. I havent heard from her husband.

At this point, I'll pay the $75.00 for the attachment. I hope she was able to relay my information to her husband for she had a hard time hearing me.

you might try to make friends at a local dealership and see if they will lend you the tool with a cash deposit....incase you dont want to come back...cause 75 bucks is a lot for a tool your only gonna use once.

I dropped the engine out of a 99 srad 750 and we ended up *modifing* a socket to get the pinch nut out. You might be able to do the same.

i did it on a 97 srad and used a brass drift and an MFH. motor hasn't fallen out yet, but i've only put about 300 miles on it since re-install :laughing

Came out of pocket for the tool and it is well worth the money. It made removing the motor so so easy. after dropping the motor, I removed the cylinder head cover and pick up rotor cover. I noticed some of the lobes on the camshaft have a bluish color on both side of the lobe. according to the book I should replace the camshaft.

the book says to set the T mark on the crankcase mating surface at TDC on the compression stroke. I heard the motor burp out some air, set the T mark on the crankcase mating surface, and made sure the lobes on te first cylinder are turned away from each other.

When replacing the camshaft, should the intake and exhaust valve lifters be replaced?

What shape are they in?

I don't know yet. I haven't taken any measurments. Is there any visual identifying marks?

AFAIK, scoring would be a sign.

if the bucket was scored, would the markings be the same as the blue markings found on the lobe?
