I think its a cool little bike. I bet its incredibly fun on the track! Personally I really think that smaller displacement bikes would sell well in the US; especially with styling like this! (But at the same time 14.5HP is meager:laughing)What Do you guys think would it sell in the US.? Would you buy one?

read the article this morning :)

its awesome, but i would need at least 30ish hp like the kawi's 250

As an owner of a small displacement sport bike (Aprilia Rs50) I can say that they are immensely fun. My bike was kitted out to 72cc and since it was a two stroke probably had power similar to the YZF. 14hp just is not enough, when you twist the throttle the bike really dose not do much compared to my Ducati or my BMW for the matter. In the twisties small light bikes shine, the speed you can carry through the corners and the flickability of the bike is just great. But powering out of the corners and the fact that good rubber is not available for the smaller tiers are two big drawbacks. IMO a 200lb bike with 25-35hp would be the perfect blend.

I think its sweet, probable perfect for the track or a daily around town commuter and get amazing MPG with these insane gas prices, sure beats riding a scooter...

No, they won't. That's why they don't import them, or the sexy hot-performing 400cc supersports.

In this country, a 600 is a noob or girl's bike. Buying anything less than a literbike is akin to admitting you're a pussy. Everything's got to be bigger and louder, even if "bigger" doesn't equate to more power (like a 96 cu H-D twin).

The big reason 125, 250, and 400cc supersports are hot overseas is because of mandated tiered licensing. If you're restricted to a certain engine size, the manufacturers are going to make the most attractive package they can in order to sell more bikes.

As far as track toys, you can import grey-market sub-600cc fours, twins, and thumpers - both 2 and 4 strokes, all day long if your paperwork is in order - but you'll never be able to register it for street use.

The EX250 is an anomaly - the success of the HyoSung will tell if the market will actually support another sport bike in the same displacement. And judging by the number of HyoSungs I've seen on the road, it's doubtful.

Now that said, I'd hit that 125 - I just don't ever see them (legitimately) coming to the land of the Hummer, 24" spinners, the Double QPC, and 60" plasma screens.

-Q!

The only reason I opened this thread is because I thought it said 1250cc Yamaha YZF-R1250 :drool ... Damn it. :mad

I gotta disagree with you there. There is definitely a significant demand for 250's, but the market just doesn't provide many models.

Hyosung isn't a particularly well known brand. Personally, I have no idea where I can even buy one short of looking on craigslist. Even if I was going to buy, I'd be concerned over part and service availability. From cursory glance on google, I can't even find a repair manual for it.

Other than that, I can't think of any other "sport" form factor 250's that are being sold here in the states. It's definitely an overlooked segment of the market where I think that demand does exist.

i'd buy one...looks like a sweet bike to cruise around town with....:teeth

looks uber sexy too....

i'd buy one if it gets here...

+ this, i think, is the 3rd thread for that bike

I think at 14hp its a little optimistic to put a passenger seat and pegs:laughing

I'd think that would be the power equivalent to riding a pair of rollerblades with a bad case of flatulence.

that's too bad...there's still the rs125 with 30+ horses uncorked
