Lefty, it's best not to get the police involved if avoided, as this will almost certainly result in the 18 year old boy being listed in the California sex offender registry. He should be made to know this and given other options before going down that route.

Although I believe that a relationship between an 18 year old and a 14 year old can be healthy, it's never a good idea with our culture and laws. I would go so far as to avoid being alone with a minor who isn't a family member. I would explain this both to the girls parents, and the boys parents.

I'd add a major concern: in 2/3rds of the cases involving a pregnant teenager, the father was over-age. In most cases, he does not stick around to support the mother and child.

Finally, in my humble opinion, an 18 year old dating a 14 year old is a hell of a lot less creepy than a 45 year old dating an 18 year old.
 
Whats the difference between 14yo girl havin sex with either a 14/18 yo boy? Most likely they are all in high school. Can you say you didn't have sex when you were in high school? Shit that's what all high school boys are trying to get anyways. So why's the male always gotta be labeled the pervert? Personally I think if you can't charge the 14yo boy with statutory rape for sex with a 14 yo girl, then you also can't charge the 18yo boy if he goes to the same high school. If he's out of high school, then open game. Or else high school seniors who are 18 go to a different school.

I hate how the government tries to shame all males in society that the rules of engagement when it comes to sex should be authorized by the government. Why is it shameful for a 65 yo man to date a 20 yo? Hell he's my fucking hero. If dude can tap that, why not? Why should he be forced to tap old poontang? I think both are equally as creepy. but the 18 y/o is breaking the law and if he's banging her he's committing stat rape.

if they had been going out for a year would you think it's ok
if the girls was one day from fifteen and the boy was one past 18 would you be as worried.

Child brides are very common in the US, more common that most modern folks want to admit.

There has been a significant change in how we view age of consent in the last 30 or so years.

Having been an 18 year-old in the past six or so years, and having a brother who is currently 18 (w/a 15 y/o girlfriend, mind you) I can tell you with absolute certitude that 18 year-old boys have their heads in such a position as to preclude rational thought, namely, between their ass-cheeks. This can be clearly seen in their interest in a 14 year-old girl, one of the flightiest, most fickle creatures God created. They're adults in legal terms only. So I wouldn't treat him any different than any other boy she brought home. Hell, I might just prefer him to others: the only thing dumber than an 18 year-old boy is a 16 year-old boy, because at least it can be said about an 18 year-old that he has a head, however ass-bound it is. A 16 year-old boy's closest analogue in nature is a recently-decapitated chicken.

CLIFF'S NOTES: All you guys screaming statutory rape need to loosen the fuck up remember what it was like to be a kid. I don't know if you guys remember your 18th birthday, but I do. I didn't get some magical fucking revelation, some divine insight into what it meant to be an adult, my dad didn't pull me aside and hand me my official Man Card, or Manual of Being a Man, or anything like that. There was no transition. It was just another sunrise followed by another sunset. I was just as confused, stupid, and horny as I was the day, the month, the year before. Felony charges and a permanent record are no way to teach a boy not to think with his balls first time around. At most give the kid a talking-to about the kind of legislation he's up against. Statutory rape laws were never intended to punish boys for dating girls who go to the same school.

EDIT: This isn't to say that if it were my daughter, I wouldn't let him see me cleaning the guns. Of course I would, but in this respect, I wouldn't treat him any different than any other boy, 14 to 17. :devil

EDIT to the EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not expounding on how to deal with girls bringing boys home. I haven't figured that part out yet. I'm merely saying that treating a boy differently than others simply because of some ridiculous law that supposes he's an adult is childishly vindictive. Hell, I'm pretty sure I'll kill and dissolve every boy any daughter I might have brings home. It's just that the 18 year-olds wouldn't be treated any different because of their age.

Best way to end the relationship... have the girls 'rents invite him over for dinner. Tell him how much they like him, and how they're so glad that he's hanging out with their daughter, how they make such a cute couple and so on. Ham it up. She'll dump that poor bastard so fast he won't even realize what happened.
