I have 18 wires I need to cut and put on connectors so I can disconnect them easily. Where would I buy such connectors?

I know I can put on individual connectors but I would like just one connector for the lot. Anyone have any ideas?

I used to get molex connectors from frys. You can try radio shack but they may not have 18 pin connectors.

maybe not as big as 18 wires, but i've pirated connectors from scrapped wiring harnesses... of course if you don't have a junkyard in your garage this isn't as easy

I was thinking of Pirating some old connectors as well from pick n pull, would I just splice in the other wires or can I remove the old wires and install the new ones in the connectors?

I've bought and used the molex parts from frys too. there's a punch tool to help.

Are you looking for an OEM style sealed connector? If so it looks like you've got a couple of options:

or 9+9 http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/Sealed/FKWH/fkwh.html

It's gonna be the same deal with a regular Molex style connector too, I don't see anything with 18.

Newark Electronics and Allied Electronics usually have pretty knowledgeable salespeople, maybe try giving them a call to see if they know of anything that isn't listed on the web site.

either way would work, just depenes on what level of hooptie you're comfortable with.

i recommend german cars, particularly BMW. they have some nice connectors holding their shitty cars together. they are molex i believe, similar to the ones linked from eastern beaver above

Halted in Santa Clara may have what you need. Call them and ask.

What gauge wire? The gauge of the wire is most important to choosing a connector.

Any car wiring harness will have a big connector like that in small gauge wires (usually 18 ga). I have a giant box of old wiring harnesses I keep around just for stuff like that.

There are some good radio control connectors too.
I like these:

And these for high current applications such as stator to R/R:

Hells yea! Thank you very much, I have enough information here to solve my problem.

Barfers coming through!

If you go to Mouser electronics you can find pretty much any connector known to man. The issue is more finding what you want among the 21000 automotive connectors they have...

I have an spare ducati harness I was planning on cutting up for other the connectors. There is a upper to lower harness 22 pin connector that I will not need, yours if you want it.
