Hi the other day I commuted on my 675 and when I got off the bike I noticed a fairly decently loud ticking noise on my right side . The mechanic won't be able to fully take a look at it till Wednesday was wondering if anyone else has heard of this. Thr bike has about 18k miles and valve check was back around 14k
Here is a video of the noise but since it's a cold start thr noise isn't so loud but when it's fully warmed up its fairly noticeable .

To troubleshoot an internal noise the first step is to establish the
rate at which it occurs... is the noise in time with the camshaft or
crankshaft??? camshafts rotate 1/2 the speed of the crankshaft... the
source of camshaft speed noises are shim and bucket clearances...
loose cam bearing blocks... broken valve springs... the source of
crankshaft speed noises are a scuffed piston... stuck piston ring...
rod bearings...

To pin point the exact location of the noise hold a long tip screw driver or a
length of garden hose up to your ear and probe the suspected area...

One easy thing to check is the exhaust flange nuts. A loose one can cause a clicking type sound.

& just behind them are the exhaust flange gaskets. If it comes loose & exhaust bypasses it for awhile, the gasket typically is NFG. They are like <$5 at any dealer each...

Use a dab of grease to hold them to the head when installing...easier. :thumbup

Sorry I'm a really noob with parts for my 675 where are the exhaust flange nuts located ?

On the exhaust flange. Where the three pipes come out of the engine...

Don't take this the wrong way because not everyone is handy and there is nothing wrong with that. But my spidey sense tells me you should have a pro look at it. :thumbup

Haha I know it's all good, yea I'm scheduled to bring in my bike on Wednesday just wanted some input from anyone else

Please post up what your mechanic finds out so we can compare to our wild guessing

Took the bike in yesterday and he said he will fully investigate it on Friday but from hearing the noise from different areas of the engine , the top cylinder is making the grinding noise inside. He's gonna check that and the valves and will let me know

I had that experience but at a greater scale. Automatic cam chain tensioner (CCT) crapped out and wasn't putting enough pressure on the cam chain, causing it to stretch and pre maturely wear out (I have a 2012 Street Triple w/ about 20k miles). This was the root cause of my bike’s ticking noise. The chain was so loose that it cause a piece of the inside housing to break off.

My fix was to replace the cam chain along with a new CCT. While in there, I performed a valve adjustment. Not an easy task but not rocket science either.

Bike has been flawless now and about to hit 23k miles.

OP: I hope your fix is switching out the CCT. It’s a simple 15 min job.
