Anyone get the hot bodies and mount it somewhere creative? I mounted mine off the passenger footpeg and I am not liking it. any idea are very welcome:thumbup:thumbup

I think I might just mount it to the tire with zip ties...that would probably look the coolest, especially if I go fast and the whole rear tire looks like a wrap around license plate:twofinger

let me know when you go that fast, i wanna seeeeeee :thumbup

this is a joke right?

1. anything other than stock or non lighted or tucked under really far is illegal, and you will get a fix it ticket.
2. mounting it to the side like a chopper - it will hit exhaust on dual exhaust pipes, if not dual then it will just flop around in the wind or scrape on corners (let me guess you still have tons of chicken strip)
3. you are too cheap for an undertail kit that already addresses this issue
4. you haven't looked at the myriad of the options already answering this question

:rolleyes

That was a joke, right?

Some guys don't give a crap about fix-it tickets. I encounter them every day.

FWIW, my bike is street legal down to the license plate reflectors.

Chicken Strips are the best!!!! But I like the nugget style ones that come with a toy and french fries from Mcdonalds, Burger Kings are decent but they will not fit on my undertail because they are the actual strip type.

Thanks for the help asshole, I'll get right on putting a flood light where my tail light was to illuminate EVERYTHING and maybe even cover my license plate number with reflective stickers to legalize it more.

I was just asking for ideas, but I appreciate the feedback ball bag.

ball bag.

that's a good one, I'll add it to my list of usable insults. thanks :twofinger

I prefer Chester Fried chicken, but the only place I've seen it is Portola - but I doubt you ever ride the twisties in the mountains, thus having never seen the place.

Might want to get on top of your use of "to, too, two" while you're in there fixing things.

Just keep it legal, that's my good advice. I've had plenty of stupid tickets so maybe you could learn from other people's mistakes. :shame

I don't really think your a ball bag...and you are also not an A*#hole

I don't ride much twisties, up above gilroy or highway 1 if anything, the set up I have is legal according to the CHP. I was just wondering if there were any places that other people mounted them.

thanks :)

The places I've seen them are pretty much limited to the chopper style on the side that moves around in the wind, laid flat against the tail hugger near the shock or various other hard to see places (that's where mine was on the 954 when I was riding too aggressively), and then the legal but not stock options that consist of a L shaped bracket to hold the plate at an angle as close to the tail section as possible.

Oh, there's an east bay guy that has a LCD panel near his plate that's been talking about imaging his plate and displaying it on the LCD... that's about as unique as it comes. :party

Got any pics of your current setup?

Also, think about some more twisties - sportbikes are made for fast turns :thumbup

Yes, I have the hotbodies undertail for an '03. It wasn't my idea to get one, the PO did it. I actually prefer the stock fender. Anyway, he mounted the license plate to the swingarm. There actually are products that replace the collet on the rear axle, and have a bolted plate attached to it so you can attach your license plate on it. Needless to say, it's not legal by far, but I haven't gotten a fixit for it yet. I'm still looking for a cheap OEM undertail to replace it because I scrape the edge of the plate on hard right turns. :rolleyes

I would say just don't get the hotbodies undertail - the turn signals are barely visible, and the whole thing isn't technically street legal. You also have to drill holes in it in order to put a license plate bracket on it.

edit: Here's an example of what I mean: http://www.kneedraggers.com/details...License_Plate_Brackets_Yamaha_R6--505763.html

Thanks for the input sixty two!! I don't think I am going to go the axle route, I am just going to drill holes.

In my experience you don't get the fixit until you're being stopped for something else, like speeding :rolleyes

Sounds like the simple solution is to get one of these and bolt it to the undertail. That's how I got rid of the stock shovel type mount for my plate.

Hard to see specifics on the pic, but the plate is attached to a plate holder which is bolted to the L bracket. Cost me less than 25 cents at home depot.

Mount it to the rear tire. That would be pimp. :D
