2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer.... hmmm.

As the new comer the Tiger Explorer lacks the baked-in ADV DNA and the go-to-the-end-of-the-world mystique the other big ADV bike have. It seems to be a good big bike with good specs, but it doesn't set my imagination on fire.

Test drove it and the Multistrada with similar goals as you and went with the Multi (as echoed by others in the thread)

I have a Multi and can't imagine it's better on the freeway than a heavier or longer bike, or better on fire roads than one with a 19" front wheel.

Actually, I don't have to imagine because I have another bike with a 19" front that is heavier/bulkier than the Multi and it's more comfortable on the freeway and more stable on fire roads.

faux adv bike, how vouge! prefectly suited to you sir, good choice.

-note your reaction.
-do you really care about what others think given your opening post?
-for the pupose of highway and occasional dirtish roads, this bike is super cool. liter triple, SSA, luggage - a combination of useful and exciting, without the pretention of dirtying it up in peru en route to the office.

I was able to put a hundred miles or so on one that I borrowed for a photo shoot this year. Up to Truckee on the slab and then around that area on some side roads/trails. I took it up a very sketchy trail after I misunderstood where my boss was pointing with little issues. In my defense if you say up there, and point at a hill, I am going to assume that you meant the to, not just kinda near the top...

Calm and relaxed easy to flick around and I was only uncomfortable on the groomed fire roads because it was not my bike. I did not have all the bitchin luggage (no top case).

Not that I am shopping for a replacement for my Sprint, but if I was it would be on the short list. Top two.
