Don't get yer knickers in a bunch, I didn't say I don't watch it.
Its is entertaining but long track is what separates the real athletes from the x-games.
Again, what do you consider sport and 'real athletes'?

p.s. keep the insults out of your replies, it doesn't add to the discussion.

I wasn't looking to make it into a discussion. But short track is similar to roller derby, do you dispute that? Roller derby is also a sport. Yeah short track is a sport that takes skill and like freestyle skiing more of a filler sport.

Have you ever looked up which are the most popular winter Olympic sports to see if others share your viewpoint?

Roller derby is a completely different sport, the skill level is magnitudes below the skills of the short track skaters.

From everything that I've seen, it's not a 'filler'.

I like it but I can see BP's view as well. To me it's more like motorsports where touching is frowned upon but the area in which they operate lends itself to some sharp elbows at times. It's fast and exciting and filled with strategy and quick decisions.

I'd probably hurt my back lifting that rock and tear myself a new one going that low...

Sounds like sports to me. :laughing

We never lift the rocks and you don't actually have to bend as much as the pros do to still play the game well. :2cents :teeth

Anyway, curling is cool as hell. The entire game is structured around dicking over your opponents. I mean... I don't understand why some of you BARFers aren't bigger fans. If you only knew what you were missing out on.

And to think, there's an entire Curling community (one of the oldest in the U.S.) right here in the Bay Area!

Curling was obviously invented by drunk Scotsmen

Actually, you're pretty much correct.

Shaun White just killed it. Dude is amazing.

Shaun White just killed it. Dude is amazing.

Sure did, they could not have scripted that competition. The pairs ice skating is boring as fuck after the halfpipe.

Johnny Weir looks like Pee Wee Herman with a wig on.

Except Weir looks fresh and clean whereas Peewee always looked like he was on day two of a five day tweaker binge.

Weir looked like someone's grandmother with his hair and that necklace.
The pretty thing said Tara looked like a whore in that dress. :laughing

Dude is like the tony Hawk of snowboarding. Talented and a darling of MTV, CBS, etc. But he’s not that fun to watch; he’s a contest rider plain and simple. There’s a reason why almost no serious snowboarder respects or likes him. At least Tony Hawk is respected, and he deserves it. What has Shaun White done for snowboarding? All he does is win contests at any cost, and he’s a smug arrogant ass.

Dude is like the tony Hawk of snowboarding.

Actually Tony Hawk was looked down upon in the skateboarding community for many years. His parents owned Del Mar skate park so he was seen as having an unfair advantage. He was skinny and gangly and had a shit style compared to Hosoi and others of that era. (see the old youtube vids) It wasn't till he got older that he started getting respect.

And Liberace' called and asked Johnny Weir to tone it down...

Which is why I didn’t say Andy Mac. I remember Hawk always winning the title of most hated skateboarder in the annual Big Brother poll. It was because he was a contest skater above all at that time. But the difference was that Hawk was an innovator as well as a contest winner, and he didn’t leave a trail of betrayal and duplicity in his path. White is a genuine asshole who cares about nothing but medals.
