2019 - 2026 Wednesday Night Drags Sonoma

I understand why you would deep stage but I never got why Doug does.
I've asked him. He was predictably cagey with his answer. His "trophy room" prevents me from saying anything critical. :laughing

All comes down to better reaction time. Takes a bike a "long" time for the clutch to be let out and the bike actually start to move. Doug is great at it. I am just learning.

But........the question I get stuck on is in the "risk/reward" camp.
Deep staging makes sense but with a 15 second bike (or 14....I forget what he runs) putting yourself closer to a red light doesn't add up to me because he's not winning/losing by that margin. He basically always runs his number.
Again, HE has the trophy collection, not me. I'm in no way second guessing him.....just trying to understand.

He runs 13's and 12's on a good day/night lol. True, his bike is going to run the number, but we do have some very close races and don't forget it's a combination of reaction time and how close you run to your dial that determines the winner. You can run dead on your number but if you have a .200 reaction time then your total package is .200. If the person you are racing is .050 off his dial and has a .100 reaction time, the he would beat you with a total package of .150 to .200, even though you ran a dead on your dial et. Doug also uses Wednesday night as tune up for more competitive races on the weekends.

Good points, Joe....all of them
Especially the last one. You're right, I see him out there in the weekend events and he holds his own against much more advanced machinery.
"Its not the arrow, it's the Indian."

I was going to go today with the ZR7 got the clutch replaced but its going to be triple digits today and I don't want to roast in my leathers o_O' bringing the fast bike!

I think I'm going to sit this one out also, looking too Hot! Sacramento Raceway cancelled their Wednesday night program because of heat.

August 21, Wednesday night drags continues. $25 to race, $10 for spectators. Kids 12 and under are free.

.....and I still have to fucken work. :mad
I'm still gonna try and stop by for a brief cameo appearance.

Pictures for last nights race. I brought my 2000 Kawasaki ZR7 (for sale also) tonight and all I can say is the electric bikes have spoiled me haha. I was spinning tires and doing burnouts. The new clutch definitely is getting the power to the ground. I was getting some pretty bad reaction times but I made it to the semi final by sheer luck tonight. I raced against the invisible racer the first round and I beat a BMW R1250RS the 2nd round. The semi final I raced Eric in the SV650 and lost because I broke out when they put the wrong dial in time down. But either way I would have lost Eric did really good on that run even if they did put the right time. Then Eric wound up beating a the ZX14 and took the win.

Have fun out there :)

Early exit for me in the first round of eliminations. Was not expecting to do much being on a new bike. Hope to be back on "old reliable" next week. Low car count so we got a extra practice run and went home early!
