2019 - 2026 Wednesday Night Drags Sonoma

Some pictures from Wednesday 3-17-21. Perfect conditions for racing. There was a slight tailwind most of the night and the DA was right around sea level or a little under. Good bike turnout, the only bad thing was we were only running 1/8 mile. The track was real cold and the rubber on the starting line was starting to peel up. For most it didn't matter but if you were putting down some power and leaving hard it was tricky at best. Doug Love won in the finals with a double break out win.

I did get to drive the ID4 and the Model Y because there was the Tesla store there and man both of them rip the Model Y more so.

Cool, nice to be able to drive them them both back to back to see the differences.

I'm going to pass on the next two 1/8th mile events, I like the 1/4. lol

Here's my videos for the Wednesday Night Drags 3-24-2021. It was warm weather in the day then as the sun came down it became really windy and cold. First time doing the 1/8 with the Light Bee and it's perfect I hit top speed just as I get to the finish. I was doing great then when it came to the elimination round I screwed up, wheelie off the line was like 1 second off my dial and I redlit as well! First time I ever redlit, I think I may have staged too deep. Final was Doug vs Tyler and after Tyler did a burn out the bike went down as he went towards the tree. He said the front washed out. Supposedly Doug is going to race Tyler for the trophy next week. I would love to go next week as it's the last 1/8 mile but I broke my bike again. The jackshaft bearing is going bad again and the bearings I ordered to replace them aren't going to get to me till Thursday :( Dammit it was my chance to shine! =P

Thanks for the write up! Hope they change this week to 1/4 mile as weather is looking great.....

That's what I thought last week but the weather went from warm to cold real fast.

I might make it tomorrow, weather looks ripe. Anything to note for moto tech inspection? Nothing is on their site that I could find other than to wear proper gear.

Chain guard and radiator overflow bottle if your bike is liquid cooled. Shoes/boots that cover your ankles. Gloves and a helmet, DOT approved and with a Snell 2015 sticker or newer. If it's your first time they normally will cut you some slack if you are missing something. Full leather are not required unless you are going faster than 120mph.

I have not heard anything different yet but this Wednesday is still scheduled for 1/8 mile racing only. Get there early so you can pay and get inline for tech. Racing starts at 4pm and eliminations start at 7pm. Gates open at 3pm but nice to be there around 2:30 ish.

Was just confirmed that this Wednesday 3-31-21 will be 1/8 mile racing. I am going to pass on this event. The next Wednesday night drags will be April 14th. That will be full 1/4 mile racing.

Aww gotta sit this one out too gotta replace a bearing and flat tire on my bike. :( Back to being the slug =P I got my first covid shot today also so I bet I'm gonna feel like crap tomorrow =/

Looks like Doug won it again, he's got a pretty good lead. Man it was so warm today would have been great do to race. I got the bearing replaced hopefully fixed the the noise.

Yep Doug has a nice little points lead. Hope to get back to 1/4 mile racing on April 14th. Glad to hear you got the bike back together. See you in a couple of weeks.

How did it go, Joe?

Big turnout for bikes, I think we had 17 or 18. Weather conditions were pretty good, no major headwind. They did something different with the tree, they ran a split tree,, sportsman and pro tree at the same time, depending on what you preferred. They only problem was they started doing it in eliminations and didn't tell the bikes about it. So if you wanted to run a sportsman tree (five tenths) which they bikes never run on Wednesday night they were doing it. 1 person on a bike, Erick was running that tree in time only, then running back to the bike lane and running the regular four tenths tree in the bike lane. No big deal. Well come elimination they do the split tree in the bike lane just random like without telling anyone and it caught a few off guard. I go red in the first round not known what to expect. The bike in front of me goes red also. Live and learn....Merlin on the electric bike made it to the semi finals and Tom Myers on the yamaha fazer was in the finals against Doug.

Doug ends up winning AGAIN lol. I said hello to your daughter and congrats on your good news.

I'll get the video up in a few days. The Light Bee performed very well except when the sneaky wind died down on us.
