2019 - 2026 Wednesday Night Drags Sonoma

Man I can't imagine what it would be like to do a pass on Joe's bike these guys are going twice as fast!

Another level.

It really is.
He didn't just point and shoot that thing, he had to "will" it to the left to keep it in his lane. Using his hips to guide it back straight while his arms were being torn off by the acceleration was impressive stuff. :thumbup

Results from 5-18-22 Sonoma drags. We had 14 bikes and a few others just doing testing. The weather was warm and the wind was blowing. A few new riders, ne on a BMW 1000rr another on a Aprilia and a Turbo Hayabusa doing some testing. The early car count was low so the practice rounds were moving pretty quick. Great day to get some runs in.

I think I was the #2 or #3 qualifier based on my reaction time in testing. First round I was matched up with Tyler on his back up bike, Harley. I had run a 9.315, 9.324 and 9.380 in testing before traction went away and I spun badly off the line on my other 2 test runs. I dial a 9.35. Tyler dials a 12.50 on the Harley. We take off and my .034 reaction time has Tyler covered as he is .103. I ran a 9.412 letting off and Tyle breaks out running a 12.447. On to the next round for me.

Next round I am matchup up against Lucas on his Buell. I dial a 9.36 and he dials a 12.85. Again, I have another good reaction time, .049 to his late .216. I pass him early and again back off to be sure not to break out. I run a 9.504 to his 13.091. On to round 3.

Next up is Richie Love on his Harley. This will be a much more difficult race. The wind is picking up and dying down making it hard to pick a dial. I plug in 9.38 and he dials 13.00 I'm on a roll, I have a .034 reaction to his .075. I chase him and he breaks out running a 12.934 and I take the win with a 9.405. Finals up next.

I will be racing Tom Myers on his Yamaha Fazer. Tom has had some killer reaction times, going .002 the previous round. My 3 week win streak may be about to end. I dial a 9.37 and Tom dials a 13.20. He will take off first and I will have to chase him down. The tree lights up and out the corner of my eye I see Tom go's red by -.014 and I win at the starting line. Good thing for me. I take off and instantly go into a wheelie! I end up running a 9.63 and thank my lucky stars. The streak continues, 4 wins in a row.

Next race is next week 5-25-22.

Nice 4 in row keep it goin!

It is very difficult to get a bike on this list. I think this is the most ever for bikes.

Wow yeah about half. The challenge to run your number!

Oh, what a night.....

I debated to not even show up for the races thinking it was going to be too hot. There was a nice tailwind the WHOLE night and temps were not nearly as bad as forecast at the track.
I ran a 9.27 going in shallow, that gets your best ET, and then spun off the line on my next pass. I started staging deep to get ready for elimination. I ran a 9.33 and 9.35. First round I draw Bill Myer again, second week in a row and I advance to the next round as Bill had a hard time with his reaction time. Next up I race the son of track legend Doug Love, Craig Love on his Triumph. He has issues keeping the front tire down and I catch him early and ease at the finish to take the win.

Next round I get a bye run as we had a odd number of riders and I was the #2 qualifier. I run all out and the bike slows to a 9.37. I thought I would go quicker as I did earlier in the day and conditions were only getting better. Doug wins his round and I face Doug in the finals. Can I beat two Loves in the same night? I have a 4 week win streak on the line.

I dial a 9.35 and Doug dials a 12.90. He gets the greenlight first and I will have to chase him down. Doug cuts a great light .007 and the race is on. We had no idea at the time, but I treed him with a .001 reaction time so at the start I am in front. It had happened in the previous round, I am spinning down track. I can feel the back of the bike kick out some as I am chasing him and that was just enough to cost me. Doug runs a 12.88 and I run a 9.38. The margin of victory was .0097.

The streak is over but I went out with a bang! The close races are great and you can't be upset either way. Congrats Doug.

Saw it on Facebook whew! Tis that time of year would be nice to get some rain.

Racing is back on for this Wednesday the 22nd. Going to be a hot one. Not sure what I'm going to do (race or not).

You should race. Otherwise you're just throwing valuable points at Doug......but you know that.
You don't win championships on the strength of your good days. Championships are won on the strength of your bad days.

Stay cool but race HOT! :ride

Good luck and enjoy! :thumbup

I ended up going after getting several requests. Good thing, there was a low car count and that allowed a lot of time trial runs. I made a total of 9 runs including eliminations. The weather was not as bad as forecast, and we even had either a tailwind or no wind at all.

My first run was my best time ever at Sonoma, 9.12@ 148mph. I tried too hard on the next run and went up in a wheelie running a 9.45 @ 146mph. The next time trial runs were 9.27 & 9.20. Now I had to Forget about trying to run fast and concentrate on a good time for elimination. My times get slower as I now deep stage and try to get a better reaction time. The final two runs are a 9.37 and 9.32.

Eliminations start and i get through the first round running a 9.48 on a 9.35 dial. My opponent dials a 13.00 and runs a 13.50. my .020 reaction time makes this a easy win for me as he only had a .446 reaction time. I move on to the next round. Up next I face Jennifer on her Ducati. She has been cutting some good lights and has been right on her dial in times. Again I dial a 9.35 and she dials a 12.50. Jennifer has a bad reaction time .139 to my .066 but I spin bad all the way through 1st gear. I'm thinking I'm in trouble now and this will be it for me but I catch her and get the win. I run a 9.72 to her 12.90. I end up winning by .1655, most of that came from the reaction time difference. On to the semi finals. I am racing Sean on his R6. Sean took out The Legendary Doug Love in the previous round, so I know this is going to be a tuff race. I keep my same dial, 9.35 and Sean dials 11.95. i have a terrible reaction time, .110 and Sean has .055 light. I have some catching up to do. I almost catch him at the finish line only to lose in a double break out! I run a 9.298 and Sean runs a 11.922. He is closer to his dial so he gets the win. He goes to the finals and Beats a newcomer on a Harley for the event win. Congrats Sean!

Next race is next Wednesday, hope it's not going to be too hot.
