2021 Ford Bronco - shots fired

Why put a deposit down? All the first editions are spoken for. I see no reason to let Ford hold $100 for something that is going to be mass produced shortly.

It’s a placeholder in line and you’ll eventually get to decide exactly what options and color it is.

There was a customer at my store that dropped a $1000 deposit back in 2005 to be first to buy the next NSX whenever it came out. When it finally happened over a decade later, he ordered it to his specifications, then backed out. Quite a long time to park a grand.

Funny to back out on that one - didn't it go way up in value already?

BTW - I do not believe the Bronco $100 gets you a "place in line". In the small print somewhere I read that it does not secure priority. It does grant you the "no dealer markup" though.

You know, the other thing I was wondering is what is the best dealer to buy a FORD through in Nor Cal? I just let it select EPIC Ford here in Sac, but no clue if they are any good.

Any thoughts on that one folks?

I heard good things about Ford Store Morgan Hill.

Sac area either Elk Grove Ford or Woodland Ford. At Woodland you can ask for Cale Wood an he'll spare you all the hi pressure sales tactics.

Ended up buying at the one on Madison though. They had a leftover for an advertised price that couldn't be beat. Probably higher volume place. Very typical slimy dealership though.

There sure is a lot of hub-bub over what's going to be something as exotic as an Explorer.

Do you folks really want the first year of a new model anyway?

That’s why I’m waiting until 2022 :thumbup

Let the hype die down and any bugs get worked out. The Bronco isn’t going to be some rare exotic like the Ford GT.

Oh no. The new NSX depreciation has been pretty severe. The old car on the other hand? Those have gone way up in value the past five years.

Sucks that the $100 doesn’t get you a place in line. I suppose it may have something to do with individual dealer allocation amounts. Been hearing about the same situation with the new C8 Corvette. Some people who ordered from super high volume dealers late in the game already have a car while others who put a deposit down a year ago at a podunck dealer are still waiting for their car.

I’d send you to my Ford dealer, but their allocations are going to be small.

Who gets big Ford allocations? Galpin down in LA?

I'd fly up to Kellogg, ID and do Dave Smith but they only do FCA and GM.

Do you get to build to order with the Costco thing?

Yup. You can still configure the vehicle however you want. At least with Ford, you can. That's the only manufacturer I've bought through Costco. The Costco deal only guarantees the terms of the purchase deal, it doesn't force you to buy only certain versions or whatever is on the lot.

I submitted my build sheet to Livermore Ford after they confirmed my Costco pricing.

Who gets big Ford allocations? Galpin down in LA?.

Probably. Galpin Ford is the largest volume Ford dealer in the country.

Peoria ford in AZ has a pretty large truck/SUV lot. They were the place to get a raptor without paying the huge mark up. Corning ford is pretty large as well. They're the typical marked up ford dealer tho. Went to future ford in Roseville this weekend and a couple other dealers. Chevy, gmc and ford all had their trucks marked up 20k or more due to "demand" and "limited supply" shit even the Nissan dealership had Murano for 63k :wtf

There is a limited supply on a lot of new cars right now because factories were closed for COVID. It will swing back the other way in a few months.

The last new car I bought was from Folsom Lake Ford and they were excellent to deal with. They're a fairly big dealer, but I liked everything about them. I had two cars regularly serviced there. If Steve Connors is still there, he's probably the best car salesman I've ever dealt with. No pressure, knowledgeable about the product, and helped work out a good deal for us.

Was picking up service trucks at Fremont Ford a few days ago and they're very well stocked on F-150s.

My Ford dealer hasn’t missed a beat either. Models that were heavily stocked, say more than 100 day supply, you didn’t really notice too much the gap in production. Models that were super short supply, like less than 30 days (like the M-B G class), you absolutely would feel a gap in the supply chain. And other models that were sold before they even made them like the new C8 Corvette, yeah that’s had people climbing up the walls waiting for their car.

But yeah, before the coronavirus shutdowns, full size pickups (even though Ram and Silverado were all new for 2020) really weren’t in any kind of short supply. On a national level at least.

They took the little 'sport' one up too.

I don't think it did all the tricks, but for the most part it seemed to keep up very well.

Is it just me or does it seem like the four door was hooking up better and looked smoother than the two door?

I was looking at the Ram 2500 online last night in a moment of weakness and there did seem to be plenty of those too.

It's kind of a center of gravity thing, and kind of a "length of reach" thing. There's a lot of stuff and obstacles out there that the difficulty level is wheelbase dependent. There are plenty of known and named trails that'll be easy for a 4-door wrangler. But impossible with a 2door one. And visa-versa. Many old school guys like the mid-wheelbase LJ for that reason. It's also why a lot of "built" 2door wranglers have extended wheelbases. It's not just for reducing the approach/depart angles.

It seems like a lot of rigs end up at 105-110 inch wheelbase. The 2 door jeeps get stretched and the Toyota extended cab mini-trucks get shortened.
