2022 F1 Thread *SPOILERS*

Not sure, Brett on the energy put in VS output.

Speaking of racing: this weekend Nascar is racing inside the Los Angeles coliseum. It's gotta be a wild race...and while not F1, it's gonna be like watching marbles in a blender. I can't wait!

I used to watch Nascar back in the late 70's and very early 80's, but got turned off by all of the 'equalizer' stuff like restrictor plates and other restrictions that held back a lot of people, turning it into more of a deal making 'alliance' race than what I consider real racing.

I dropped out of watching it, then picked back up watching motorcycle racing after going to Laguna Seca for Motorcycle GP racing.

I've never really been one for artificial shit.

FormulaE already started. They had 2 races at the first round. Race2 was entertaining. They've unfortunately switched to American announcers which suck and don't have the flare needed for good announcing. But it's still worth putting on the TV. Set it to record on your DVR.

I hope they aren't using Leigh Diffey, can't stand that guy!

It REALLY SUCKED when they added him to the Olympic Track and Field announcing! :wtf

Agree on Diffey. I especially don't like how he yells instead of holding a steady voice.

Fortunately, Bob Varsha is commentating for FormulaE.

Thanks Berto. I knew most of it but some of the gaps were filled in.

No mention of ethanol, It's very possible that it's an American thing, I wonder if the ethanol group paid the owners to have it included.

About 10 years ago, it was still the case that it cost more energy to produce ethanol than you could possibly get out of it in energy. Does anybody know if that's still the case?

Plant genetics and pollination are doing great things to the oil content of certain varieties of corn. It may be a viable option now. Last time it was pushed hard the grower side of things had not progressed enough without subsidies.

He's the only Australian I know that can make an Australian accent so fucking annoying. His Brisbane accent annoys the shit out of me. When NBCSports had F1 I hated hearing him.

Bob Varsha is so boring that Id rather have Diffey. Maybe Varsha will get to know the series enough to be exciting, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't recognize the other guy's voice at all and I can't find his name anywhere.

So....predictions. What teams will be at the top in this new era?

Mine:
1. Redbull (I won't bet against Adrian Newey in an Aerodynamics change)
2. Mercedes (Two top tier drivers and the Mercedes engineering)
3. McLaren
4. Ferrari
6. AlphaTauri Honda

1. Ferarri
2. RB
3. Merc
4. McLaren

I think RB and Merc are going to be hurt by the wind tunnel and CFD limitations more than expected. And I think the new Ferrari engine is going to help out immensely.

Livery reveal. Where's the actual car?!

It will end exactly as last year which was: Mercedes followed by RB, Ferrari and McLaren.

RB is taking on their own engine development which has to put a hiccup into things one would think.

This isn't the RB18, just a show car to debut the livery. The front wing only has 3 vanes and isn't adjustable. Ugh, this whole bait and switch is annoying.

RB is taking on their own engine development which has to put a hiccup into things one would think.

The engine freeze starts this year and Honda introduced all the significant changes last year. Last time I checked RB's engine facility isn't done yet, so I suspect that Honda is still supporting them for the new sensor and fuel changes. So it's mostly that RB is only taking over engine maintenance.

Something a person would do if they want to keep reminding people that they won. Still immature.

Tell that to Kenny Roberts, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Eddie Lawson, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan, Nicky Hayden on 2 wheels; Vettel, Schumacher, Senna, Prost, Lauda, Schekter, Hunt, Fittipaldi... and all the rest that wore it rather than concerning themselves with personal branding.... That's what's "immature"! :laughing

They were just following the tradition at the time, nothing wrong with that.

It's when you break from tradition, then plaster '1' everywhere along with redoing your whole helmet to yell to the world that you're 'special' with the whole design of your helmet that is massively over the top. He's thoroughly impressed with himself and he wants everybody who sees him and his helmet to be massively impressed with him. If you're all of that, you don't need to do all of that.
