Calendar.

As was the case in the previous two seasons, six rounds on the 2025 F1 calendar will feature additional sprint races. Five of these – Brazil, China, Qatar, USA and Las Vegas – also held sprint races the previous year. The Belgian Grand Prix will also be a sprint event in 2025, instead of the Austrian round.

:banana :banana :banana...Can't wait. This season should be good because it is the last season before the new rules and that usually creates good racing.

I wonder how much Newey is involved on this year's car. He (and Aston Martin) might be concentrating on '26.

I hope Hamilton does well with Ferrari. Also, hope Carlos Sainz can improve the Williams. I would love for Williams to get back to form and be a front runner.

I think that what existed in the 2nd half of the 2024 season will be the order of 2025.

I don't doubt that Newey will be able to make some tweaks to the 2024 car to improve the 2025 car, he seems to have the bandwidth to multi-task on multiple projects.

Newey can't start at Aston until March 2nd. Who knows when we'll see his work. Even parts that get updated often have a many-weeks lead time. So maybe May will be the earliest that Newey impacts the design of the car.

Im trying to not let my hopes get too high for this season. It's really looking like it's going to be a banger... but gotta temper those expectations.

What's driving Newey's start date?

Is that more RB asshattery or a FIA thing?

No Will Buxton for F1.

"This means... that I will not be covering F1 in the 2025 season..."
-Will Buxton

Yeah...Newey cant "start" at Aston until March, but what is stopping him from making "suggestions".

This is F1 where there is almost always a way around these type of rules.

Newey is on garden leave until March 2nd. That's essentially a non-compete to prevent him from working for Aston while recently having had access to sensitive RB IP. Newey is still on RB's payroll during this leave.

IMO, there is little to no benefit to Newey in breaking the non-compete, with plenty of risk. Everyone knows he's on garden leave. All the results that occur early in the season can be "blamed" on everyone but Newey. Plus with the cost-cap and all the regs, teams need to "prove" where designs came from. So there's probably more risk than ever should Newey-style parts start showing up on the car too soon. I can't imagine RB will let anything slide and they gotta have good lawyers.

Buxton will be calling Indycar on FOX, alongside Hinch and Townsend Bell. Buxton is good in the race preview shows, but there are solid replacements already. I could do without him on pitlane during the sessions.

I really hope this doesn't mean that Hinch is also leaving F1TV. He's been part-time and I hope that continues.

Just as long as Leigh Diffey isn't there...though I'd love to see him removed from Track and Field coverage, I can't stand the guy.

YES! I fucking can't stand that guy. I love me some Aussie accent but his Brisbane accent is so annoying.

Is Hamilton or LeClerc no. 1 at Ferarri?

LeClerc is #1. If Ferrari builds a 'ship-winning car, I have a hard time thinking Hamilton will best LeClerc. Hamilton just doesn't get on with the ground-effect cars nearly as well as his competition.

^^^
Also. LeClerc has tenure. However, if Hamilton can put together a Championship run and Charles is way behind in points (unlikely because of what stangmx said), then I would think Ferrari would then support Hamilton over LeClerc.

I have read many different articles on why Hamilton has lost form and the consensus is that his driving style does not fit the ground effect era. Apparently, these cars do not like trail braking and Hamilton has always been a late braker and carry the braking to the apex. He is having a tough time changing that. .

I think Ferrari was the best at managing having two great drivers for the past few years, just slightly better than Merc. Hopefully they continue that, even if a title shot comes up. It prob helps that Hamilton and LeClerc seem like the most level-headed of the front runners.

TheRace pub'd a recent vid about the strength of all the driver pairings. They put Ferrari at the top over McLaren then Merc. I don't disagree with their list.

The only thing I disagree with is where they ranked Haas. I do not feel Ocon is that good and Bearman is somewhat of an unknown. But Ferrari absolutely has the best driver line-up.
