2026 F1 thread, when season starts there will be spoilers.

I'm not really sure what it was but that race just seemed kind of boring compared to the last two.

Tough break there for Russell with the safety car. It was fun to actually see McLaren out there doing something, and they did pretty okay. If they can develop their car a little bit more, they maybe genuinely competitive with the Mercedes.

I do like that Ferrari is letting the drivers compete with each other.

That Bearman crash was really interesting, I wonder if the speed deltas created by this energy harvesting are going to lead to more crashes?

It looks like Franco wasn’t harvesting because the rear lights weren’t flashing. He was low on battery and just not getting power to reach Ollie’s speed before Spoon curve. The low energy could be from poor battery management earlier in the lap, including using Boost.

Some drivers have had issues with higher speed deltas since testing. More are speaking up now after this crash.

There are going to be a few meeting during the time off about all this. The driver’s association is attending.

This problem has been brought up since the first testing. All the drivers are giving a big I TOLD YOU SO to the FIA. If this is not fixed, it will happen again.

I found it interesting that Lando mentioned that the drivers have no control over the battery deployment, He said he was "forced" (he did not want to) to pass Hamilton going into the chicane. He knew he would be passed back on the front straight. It would be nice (and more interesting IMHO) if the drivers had more control of the energy deployment.

I think Lando is exaggerating or bullshitting. They have more control over the battery than he’s implying. He could lift and coast to charge more and potentially not pass. He can use Boost to defend or pass. And when he says he ends up with no battery - that’s also his or McLarens fault. The algorithm is their tuning choice. If he actually ends up w no battery without using boost, then their tune sucks. What’s more likely is he just had less battery, caused by him using Boost or harvesting poorly earlier in the lap.

The dumb parts of deployment are the timers. Once a driver goes over 97% throttle, the deployment must stay at max for some seconds. Then it can taper off. So if a driver fractionally reduces throttle to catch a slide, the deployment goes back to max and he burns too much battery. So dumb. Supposedly this was added to prevent them from using deployment as traction control. But I want them to be allowed to do that.

I think I want to see the teams have more freedom for when they can superclip. Let them superclip whenever, like in between corners where a driver would normally be part throttle. The driver goes full throttle instead, they charge the battery more, and there’s less lift and coast everywhere else. The FIA should be maximizing recharge through anything but coasting, not minimizing it.

I think the tweaks will not be noticeable on TV. So yay, good for us. If they also appease the drivers a little bit - great. I'm tired of them whining lol.

AppleTV+ is the same price as F1TVPro and you get all the Apple content too. You do not need an Apple device to sign up or consume it.

Actually, AppleTV is cheaper and you can link it to your F1TV and still get all the F1TV content. I have been watching some of the old races from the 1980s.

Not boring? Photos w a yellow background seem like a terrible choice. It’ll prob pop more on track.

Eddie Jordan's lovin' it!!

Looks like McLaren and to a lesser extend Verstappen got their mojo back.

Ferrari not so much despite "upgrades."
