Something interesting I see from Race Spec Sur Ron. They are based in Australia and make some good Sur Ron aftermarket parts, I have their HDPE skidplate. Looks like they are using a separate power system from the bike's and they are using a thumbthrottle like the one on my bike that I use for regen to power the front wheel.

Not enough advantage to overcome the heavier front end for my taste. But cool seeing these guys pushing the boundaries!
 
yeah pretty interesting stuff, I would think it would give you a little boost on pavement also. Definitely for the steep loose stuff it'd work good.
