4 Days of December ADV riding in the deserts

Day 3 was relatively easy. The plan was to ride from Vegas through Death Valley to Ridgecrest.

There was limited off road riding and mostly about sightseeing and making mileage.

Uh-oh :nchantr

What was your destination before switching to Las Vegas?

WC

Initially, the plan was to ride over highway 108. Since the northern routes were closed due to snow we decided to head south towards Barstow. It turns out that the Grapevine was closed due to snow which brought all of the LA traffic to Hwy 58.

The plan wasn't to stop at Vegas. We were going to try to make it north to Tonapah. But that would mean a huge day for us returning home. We figured we could always come back to Nevada.

Also, we were running quite late due to the off road excursions. And the incidents.:rolleyes

We stayed at the Clarion Hotel. Excellent accommodations. And a decent sushi restaurant across the street.

Death Valley NP truly is a magnificent location. Each time I visit I wish that I had more time to spend exploring. Maybe next time?

As we departed the park the CHP stopped traffic as an auto magazine was filming some new exotics on a twistie section of the park. So we chilled for 15min.

A few tips. Have a full tank of fuel when you enter or exit the park. It's easy to suddenly be 150 minutes into your tank and hoping for a gas station.

Have water. Have snacks. The food in the parks Concessionary is terrible and pricey.
