60% Vertebrates lost since 1970

Its the Giant Panda lol. great panda.

How many people here are able to affect the clearing of trees for cheap beef and overconsumption? I can't feel bad about stuff I have no direct hand in. I don't shoot tigers, I don't throw my trash into rivers.

I've never seen one in real life, I'll probably go my entire life without seeing one, even if they survive.

I sort of agree. Giant pandas are t important they’re just cute.

Probably awful. Like blade runner. But I’ll be dead.

That thing you said you were gonna try to stop doing? You're doing it.

George Carlin, yo...

the human species will probably stop increasing soon-ish. US birthrate is already below replacement. but I doubt that'll save pandas.

Not what the projections show, and immigration to the US has way more than replaced the "missing babies."

depends on who u ask. some already think the 12 billionth person will never be born, sometime after 2100. thats still a 50% increase from now, but its not the doomsday prediction of unlimited growth. localized changes in developed nations will probably come before that anyways, esp for countries already with seriously low birthrates.

we have so much space and resources in the US that our tiny population is a joke. and as birthrates falls in other countries, there will be fewer people to emigrate. even now, im pretty sure the US population growth rate is the lowest its ever been in recent history.

Relatively small population. We are the 3rd most populous country after China and India. And despite our abundant resources and space, the irresponsible use of both and the monstrous amount of waste we produce will make things very difficult over the next century. Compound that with global issues like climate change, availability of potable water and arable land, etc which will force populations to relocate and you're looking at a much bigger mess.

If only it was that simple. The amount of resources each and every person in our tiny population uses on a daily basis eclipses anywhere else.

Now go drive you SUV through the McDonald's drive-through while talking on your cell phone. And tell me that one of you is equal to one dude in Africa eating food cooked over buffalo dung.

sry I wasn't more clear. of the top 100 most populous countries, we are 79th for population density. 3rd most populous is less meaningful.

yes, all that is a problem if our consumption remains the same. ive resigned myself to thinking that I won't, and ill probably live long enough to see a lot of the changes.

It's good to be the king ain't it? By all mean go live the hermit life, I'll enjoy my Netflix and doordash.

Even if US birthrate has stopped growing, developing nations birthrates are still high. And those nations are going to get hit the hardest by climate change. In fact that's what caused a lot of the recent Middle Eastern migration to Europe. So, no, they're not going to stop emigrating.

It's garbage cynical trolling in a way, and another snide reply doesn't wave it all away.

Do something better with your time.

Trolling is making a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them. I actually believe in my statements. If you'd like to accuse me of trolling I'd appreciate knowing which of my comments you believe I don't believe in and stated just for the sake of pissing someone off.

How about you do something better with your time?

Just for the record. You can totally believe in what you're saying and be trolling.

Not saying you are, just that believing what you write isn't a requisite of trolling.

If I believe the Holocaust didn't happen and decided to continue to make a stink anytime Jews were mentioned, fully knowing nobody wants to hear that shit, it would be trolling.

So the real message is, don't say your opinion if it goes against the grain of the thread? Just go with the flow, conform, etc? Avoid all controversial topics? I can't control if people are offended by my opinion (and the holocaust thing is history, if you fight against it you're just a contrarian or a Nazi). none of my statements are lies or go against facts.

I never said that.

I'm trying to find the message here other than "I don't like what you have to say and will tell you to stop "trolling" rather than address your words". The OP didn't even have anything to say but a link and run.

Your attitude of "fuckit, panda bears aren't important and I'll never see one and I'll be dead before this matters so who cares anyway" is extremely negative, and although nobody is saying you're actually wrong, it's kind of a dickish thing to continue posting and you're being called on it.
