Hey guys.
Whats a fair market value for this bike? Miles aprox 8k, new metzeler m5 tires?
Im not buying, just want to help a friend sell his bike.

You guys just trashing my thread! Can we have some serious answers please!

Check KBB.Com and price it some where between the "Retail" and "Trade-in" values.

Well, I think your miles are less important than the age of the motorcycle. My perception is that it is worth about 2-2.5K. Definitely depends on how fast you want to sell it. :)

I'd guess 2.5-3k depending on condition.

in excellent shape with no mechanical issues maybe 3 - 3.5 k selling to someone that just has to have that bike.
in good shape with normal wear and tear for a bike that age and mileage 2.5 -3 k if detailed and recent service.
Road 8k miles then "zero mph" dropped with dent in tank and rust from sittin for 11 years in the back yard .5 - 1k.

old low mileage bikes worry me, I like to se a couple k road miles per year or I suspect a long sediatary period that can be bad for a bike.

These threads about "What is this bike worth?" yet NO PICTURES are provided are a HUGE WASTE OF TIME. Duh. :rolleyes

Apparently waste of your time not others.:twofinger Plus if i wanted to get more technical and especific i would have posted on the selling thread as TW ! The answers here provided are good start out point. Thanks for those serious comments. :thumbup

Yep. $500 to $3000 is a great target. :laughing

Seriously, more data, and more research. As said, condition? Just a 7r, or a 7rr? And odd as it may sound, I think color makes a difference. Some people want Slime Green more than they want say... blue. :shocker I know.

The surprisingly low 8k mileage number should help increase the price a little.

For us to improve our resale price/value guesses some maintenance history and photos would be very useful.

Only 8K miles on a 1999 bike means it sat far more than it was ridden. That means the potential for dry rot of the rubber bits and rust in the tank. Condition, maintenance history and appearance are paramount issues when selling a used bike. I've seen used bike ads that said "great condition" and "well maintained" and the bike with 3 different colored fairing bits actually looked like it fell out of the back of a truck going 75mph down the highway.

If you're serious about selling, you will put forth a serious effort to make the bike marketable. That means SEVERAL decent photographs of a cleaned and detailed bike that's mechanically sound and ready to ride.
