A car opened its door on me as I was lane sharing yesterday

Mike, I'm not a Lawyer, I'm not a Judge, I'm not a DA. I do have a bit of passion for law. I've been a defendant for a few traffic infractions. I'm just a jackass who likes to call BS on what I consider to be dangerous urban legends.

Oh yes, I'm glad I could help lawyers out! I think it was around 2001 I heard those cases so maybe those two cases are fake! Interesting. Anyway like I said you win! lol, I really don't care too much at this point. I'm not afraid to admit defeat. I was more joking then anything about suing..

Honestly, the number of nuisance lawsuits that bleed money out of the defendant in legal fees vastly outnumber the ones that are actually successful in winning a judgement. So the bigger problem is the nuisance suits going to court in the first place, not the verdicts.

On the other hand, judges virtually always throw out total bullshit cases. OTOH, your bullshit and my bullshit are not the same. And enough (seemingly) stupid ones make it to trial to provide a constant stream of news articles and bitchfests.

That said, I still think judges side with the plaintiff way too often.

I know family friends of ours sold a house, and the buyers filed a case against our family friends. One of the issues they had is our friends did not disclose that the large redwood tree in their backyard dropped stuff. They eventually settled out of court but .. really? lol. You didnt know a tree would drop stuff...

If you file a frivolous lawsuit and lose, you should be required to pay the legal bill for the falsely accused. Fixed.
I think that's how they do it in England. There's your accountability.
It's simply too easy to spray lawsuits all over the place. If only one out of the ten you have going comes through, you get a payday to fuel the other ones.
Something is wrong with that to me.

I saw some tourist in an Excursion with Nebraska plates try to squeeze out a motorcyclist on the GGB. He was laughing in the mirror about it. The motorcyclist dropped back and then got on the gas and smashed the mirror as he went by.

Mr. Nebraska was left with a huge Excusion mirror hanging off the side of his truck held on by the wires. :laughing

That will never happen here.

It's the lawyers making the laws and anything that reduces lawyer profit will be rigorously blocked.

And, even if a law was written to do it (unlikely), then the lawyers in the Supreme court would strike it down as unconstitutional (It would step on the lawyers rights to suck as much money out of the American people as possible).

'Had a guy in a semi purposely squeeze me several times once while nearly stopped on the 85 to 101 transition ramp in Mountain View. Finally, he pulled up to close the vehicle in front and couldn't do it as traffic was really stopped. I'd have loved to fuck him up but simply road past and flipped him off.

Sometimes I really dislike this country. The power that politicians, lobbyists, and the legal system have can be annoying and sickening.

Even little things....I went sky-diving in New Zealand...waiver was about 3/4 of a page.
US is like 6 pages long...I mean, c'mon.


...and btw...yes RED POWER! (except for the creepy gingers with beady eyes...they scare even me)
