I am horribly over-weight and definitely drink more than I should. You might be in luck!![]()
That's a fucking baller ride, I always wanted to build one around the SMC chassis.

This is my buddy Diego's 690 ADV that he sadly sold to fund a house.

Uhmmmm - still heavier than my 990 Adventure.
And the 990 already has more power than I really need. They need a 790 Adventure V-twin that weighs closer to 400 pounds. I would trade my bike in for that one.
Boom. A sub $10k, sub 400lb, 300 + reserve mile range, 600-800cc twin, would be a winner

Much of the orange kool-aid drinking community is all up in arms over this 1050ADV. They thought they were getting something that would be a 990ADV replacement, a more "dirt worthy" version of the 1190ADV if you will. So, of course they are all disappointed with the specs on the newly announced 1050ADV.
But the thing is this bike was built for a specific demographic, and that is the A2 permit newbs in Europe's tiered licensing scheme. The 1050ADV can be restricted to 48hp, the max allowed for A2 permit holders.
But why not just restrict an existing model like the 1190 down to 48hp? Well, the legalese of the A2 permit states that a bike can be offered as a restricted model only if the "unrestricted" model on which it is based makes no more than twice the restricted limit. So 96hp (48hp X 2) is the magic number and that's why you have a brand new 1050 making less hp than the 990 Adventure, SMT, SM, etc.
