Awesome!
Awesome!
Is this obstacle still on Reiff?
Man, that was knargl!
The road's had a lot of work. Most everything is in decent shape.![]()
Okay I'm in for the Sunday ride, and happy to lead it as one of the original OGs
who started this crazy ride almost a decade ago (really all Sid's and Drew's fault
)
My one change is start time: let's plan on KSU @ 9:30am Sunday at the Cordelia Starbucks...will give more time for those of us far away to get there.
9:30am departure from Cordelia should put us at the Knoxville OHV south entrance around 11am, and I'd estimate we should be at the top of Reiff Rd @ the cutoff to Buck Island sometime between 12:30-1:30pm.
@ John and Michael - per above, my best guess as to when we will be at the cutoff--let us know your plans re when you expect to be departing Buck Island (and which way you're headed) and we will be on the look out--would be great to meet up with you guys!
Hey Tim,
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
think what I'll do is get up and break camp in a lazy fashion on Sunday and try to be up at the intersection of Buck Island/Rayhouse at 12:30-ish on 10/11/2020, and hang out and wait for you guys at the intersection, and then head towards Hwy 16 if we don't see you at the intersection by 1:30pm or so.
Think that way you can catch us up on the way to Cache Creek gas if you're still behind us ...
here is a link to my SPOT device, which is working for me right now. I may not have it set up correctly for the public to see, let me know if it isn't working and I can try to get Cary to help me find a link that works ...
if the SPOT link is working you should be able to see if we at least made it to Buck Island on Saturday night, and where we are if you have cell service somewhere on Sunday ...![]()
Hi John --
That sounds perfect!...ditto on meeting up with you guys, and if the latest forecasts hold there should be no rain
Enjoy your Saturday night camping; if I wasn't so backed up with work and house stuff I would be out there with you guys; your plan with the seasoned steak and cast iron frypan sounds just about right

My Noob friend backed out so I'll meet up at the Mercury Cafe at 9a tomorrow.
Just an FYI, I rode 128 to the coast today and there were 3 traffic controls between the Berryesse dam and the corner of 121/128 that added up to over a 40 minute delay. Lots of crews and heavy equipment cleaning up debris alongside the roads.
Weather was fantastic today, should be a great weekend for a ride/camp trip.
Doh! I fell in behind blue vstrom and klr (on 128), thinking definitely BARF guys, they'll lead the way. Nope. 30 miles of gas gone and 45 minutes later, I was back on Knoxville road and all hopes of meeting up with y'all were dashed. But because of y'all I did explore a new to me region of my back yard and even got my toes dirty at Knoxville (jeep trail?), so big thanks for getting me out of bed. And John I was hoping you could try the WR today, next time I suppose.
matty,
Sorry you missed everyone. There was a blue V-Strom aka Titus, but he was with a KTM 1090. .
Oh man, I saw a 1090 go by and a bike or two were not far behind when I was unloading my bike and gearing up at the abandoned gas station at 121/128. I was maybe 10 minutes behindI had fun, but bummed I wasted so much fuel and had to turn back at the end of that jeep trail. I need a bigger tank! Glad you guys had a good time and looking forward to the pics.
Back home from half day with you guys, half day solo tour. I stayed on asphalt and continued on the Lower Lake. Speigler Cyn to big Cyn. 29 to Calistoga (wet but sooo sweeeeepy)
Silverado Tr to home.
I hope your campout is incredible fun and all trip is good. I'm enveeusss.
Good to meet new peeps and see agains!![]()
