Adventure riding short rides and BS thread

moar pre-gen KLR follies … another one take out of general circulation:

speaking of keeping others rolling ... the speedo from this donor/parts bike is currently on my "A" KLR, making @Lucytriple 's life a little easier--because we can theoretically now keep track of the "A" bike's milage between giving it some routine-maintenance-love with some indicator other than how many D606 rear tires have been burned through since the last time Ms Lucy changed the oil for me (the odo on the A had been busted for years). :laughing :clown :facepalm

the Crown photo guy tells me this is his best-selling pre-gen KLR photo (probably the three prints I purchased. :toothless ):

“war horse KLR” … :laughing

I’m in King City this morning (38 degrees!), on my way to Baja, where it’s supposed to be 98 degrees later in the week in San Ignacio. we’ll see … maybe. :ride

and … the other war horse, loaded up in San Francisco this morning, under the supervision of Ms Perfect-Guest—all ready for their border dash today and tomorrow:

I’m in Santa Maria, now, enjoying coffee and the 50 degree weather. :angel
Jesse bags on a KLR! Now I’ve seen everything

the Jesse bags came off a KLR that someone gave to Mr @kalle … that “free” bike has a ton of out of reg fees, but I had a non-op’ed titled frame I gave him, so he can deal with those fees, someday, wolf style. :laughing

did 350 miles yesterday, a big-mile day for me, down 101 (pretty) to “the” 405 and an hour of lane splitting at rush hour, to the state beach campground at San Clemente, in Orange County:

and the Mr Vince and Ms Kitty Ears rig. they are driving down to the border from the East Bay, today. late model Africa Twin and T7:

I hope to cross the border at Tecate, today, and maybe camp somewhere up the Observatory Road. :blah

Ain't it always the way? No matter how early you leave you always hit heavy traffic in LA.. No matter the time of day or night.

Wonderful picture at the campsite! Can't wait to see more of your Baja trip.

yes, I was in Ventura at 2:30, so pretty sure I nailed rush hour in LA this time. :laughing

it’s actually not so bad, splitting through traffic that’s mostly not moving. :ride

idk if I-5 would have been a better choice. think 405 was fewer miles. no road construction on 405, anyway, that I remember.

Have fun and think of us who should be there.

and … made it! also got way further up the Observatory Road than ever before. they actually took my 50 pasos, rather than turning me away for being on a moto. :laughing

I’ve never been to Ranchero Meling before, it’s pretty awesome. :ride

my excuse to go to Baja this time was Mr Kalle had a plan to ride down from the border to go whale watching …

pic taken of us touching whales … that’s Mr Kalle in the bow, and me standing with my arm in the air:

met these nice men from Mexico in San Ignacio, who got a kick out of my pre-gen KLR, and insisted on a group pic with the pre-gen, a second generation, and a late-model KLR, all lined up:

they were on their way to Mulegé …
