But it’s close enough that you know what they’re going for right? I honestly think how AI slightly changes trademarked logos and script is half the magic. That super skinny runner guy up there is wearing Adidas, but the trademarked three stripes are distorted just enough to keep Microsoft’s legal team from having to go to work.

It like watching 90’s sitcoms where someone is drinking a can of CokLa. Except now it doesn’t take a Hollywood prop master hours to craft of bunch of fake consumer products.

One of the explanations I've heard for this is that the AI is only working on getting a specific very very small area of the image correct, and so it's not looking at the word NORTON, it's looking at the edge of the N and the tank, or the top 1/4 of the O and the tank, etc. So it doesn't have the domain of understanding of the larger image to make the word right. This is called 'stable diffusion' for text-to-image generation. This has some cool videos that demonstrate it at work.

Or it could be the copyright avoidance mechanism @TheRobSJ describes- intentionally distorting to avoid accusation.
