Air compressor for bike use

For track days.....the bicycle pump. Don't hassle with a compressor or storage tank.

For home, if it's really light use, and I mean "light", one of those small Craftsman units for 99 or 129 is OK. But you'll drain it fairly fast if you're blowing things off. And it's no good for power tools. What you really need/want is one of those jobs with the 20 or 30 gallon vertical tank with wheels and the compressor on top.

Noise?.......plug them in at the store and listen to them. They vary.

Sums it up perfectly.

The 30 gal compressor is my favorite garage toy. Picked it up to remove the countershaft nut on the H.D. and it paid for itself. Now don't know how I survived w/o it. It sits on it's own designated place on carpet in the middle of the garage surrounded by folding chairs and 4 multi colored theater lights focused on it.

I'd sure go bigger...Once you have the compressor...you like having it, to do more...like your car tires, or run a few air tools.

I agree with this. I have a 3Gal one and want to get a much bigger one for using tools with. Once you get one you get spoiled to what you can use it for. Makes a great tool for removing grips too :)

Must be a real nice one.

Get a small portable tank and a real compressor to fill it up and for home use.

The reviews don't look too great which is why I posted the one I did. I want the best bang for the bank, and with that one on amazon is $166 off, not bad.

Forget the compressor. Just went through this myself. You can get a cheap CO2 tank (home brewing equipment, etc...), a cheap CO2 pressure regulator with quick disconnects, and your set.

Similar to http://www.powertank.com/products/sfID1/36 but build your own at less than half the cost.

If you want something just for tire inflation, I carry this thing. Works really well and connects to your battery. Quiet too.
