Yea, can't say I miss being underneath the main flight path of NCAS El Toro and MCAS Tustin. We routinely had overflights of pairs of F-18s. When it was helicopters from Tustin, they seem to come in packs of 6.
 
I was still living on base at El Toro when the Phantoms were replaced with F-18's. The Phantoms were loud(er) but their pattern required them to fly farther away from the base. When we got the Hornets, they were able to safely fly much closer to the base and overhead the barracks. It wasn't fun. The only consolation was that it was still quieter than the berthing area below the flight deck landing area.
