George Hall was a great photographer. He visited us frequently, and every interaction I had with him was bad. I had to re-certify him to fly in our F-5F's for each of his visits and he was condescending and dismissive during every session.
I still bought the book (he wouldn't give them away).

I still have that book!. Also the one he did on Strike U at Fallon. Sucks to hear he was condescending...I always loved his photography. Obviously the two things are unrelated. But still, between George Hall and "Heater" Heatley, who else captured the spirit of Naval Aviation in that era?
BTW, did you ever read Bio's book?

I want to believe but…..
I thought the very specialized and large logistical support chain required to keep the SR-71 airworthy makes the cost of keeping one aircraft flying INSANE. And that the vendors who used to supply the secret squirrel consumables the jet needs have long gone out of business.
I'm not saying it’s impossible, just seems really unlikely.
