All week off. What would you do?

Go on an epic adventure. Drink a lot. Fuck the world in big thrusts.

two chicks at the same time

Congrats on the new job!

Two nights in Fortuna. And two gurls.

Something tells me my wife would disapprove. :(

Take your son riding ?

He's almost 19 months old. :p Although, that reminds me of a few days ago. I saw a sportbike headed down 101 with what looked like a 10ish yr old boy on pillion. Looked like full gear. He waved as I got off at my exit.

I've had dreams of riding 36, but it's basically an 11 hour round trip ride, which I won't have enough time for in one day (won't be staying overnight anywhere.)

Sit at home on the computer

That may take up a small portion...I've been geeking out on ESO in the evenings. :twofinger

Nah 18months is not too bad, I've one at home myself !, Day tripping to Yosemite, Lake Berryessa, Big Sur etc etc would be my choice. That way you get brownie points with the family for the summer riding season !.

+1 to Big Sur. Theres a free campground around there somewhere. Local pubs got screamin' salmon fish & chips
101 to Skaggs. Or Marin backroads and some dirt sessions.
Coast to Ft. Bragg, stay over. Back 128 to 101, or 20 to Willits.
88 to Kingsbury Grade into Tahoe, and back thats a LONG day...
Murphys for lunch
The roads are empty!!
I got it!! Ride to SLO, and buy some socks for the fam!! Cross the Carrizo Plain on 58, and slab 99 home.
I've been off for a few days... Carnegie, Watsonville, Tomales MTB swimming, some drinking, not a lot,
just sleeping in till 7:30 is mondo lux, and I don't even have a kid...staying close to home, kill a little time to next job. scarin' the wimmen...
have a good time...!!

lol - keep thinking that. Unless you're home with the kid(s) all day for a week, I'd refrain from tossing-out an "it's not too bad" in front of the mother.

Unless of course the significant other spends as much time away as you do, or a nanny has the duty 5 days a week.

I did big sur once. Never will I do it again, way too many idiotic rv's and tourists who u turns randomly and going way slow. The scenery is nice but road wise it aint that great.

I recently did 25 from hollister to 198, it was awesome. Perfect road, no cars, no cops, no tourists. Its like 70 miles uninterrupted with no intersections. From there you have a pretty good span of central california roads too. 229, peach tree, 58 to mckittrick, its a pretty big list of badass desolate roads down there.

psh, big sur is a day ride. I do McKean>Uvas>Watsonville>Mt Madonna>College>Lakeview>129>Elkhorn>1>Big Sur>Naciemento-Fergusson>101 North for 10 miles>Carmel Valley Rd>Laureles Grade>68>home.

Dodging the tourists on 1 is part of the fun :)

Solid 330 mile day. I end up doing it every few months.

Edit: I see you are in Sonoma... yeah, it'd be a bit long for a day ride from there :)

Ride somewhere too far to get on your regular weekend. If you want to do 36, do it, but I think you can do a bit bigger than that if you can manage to string 3 days together.

It wasn't so much the distance, just that I foolishly expected a lot more twisties and a lot less people.

The more "destinations" I ride, the more I love the mostly unknown and trafficless sonoma/lake/mendo county backroads.

Hows Nacimieto road off hwy 1? I thought about taking it, but for some reason didn't.

Then you certainly missed out on Naciemento-Fergusson Road and Carmel Valley Road.

CVR is probably one of my top 5 in the state. It is *the reason* to deal with the Big Sur traffic.

Here's a video of me riding it a few weeks ago. Super shaky unfortunately: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX9O4RUFK3I

Yep, I'm with you... absolutely love the goat trails.

If you haven't checked out Salmon River Rd outside of Somes Bar way up north.. you are in for a treat :).

Also.. in the sierras, if you have something gravel road capable... Blackrock Rd is pretty epic:

By the way, OP... Sonora & Ebbetts Passes opened back up today...

I just did the ride up through Napa/Berryessa/Middleton over to Hopland and then through Anderson Valley up to Mendocino and on to the Lost Coast... Can't recommend that route enough. Staying in Mendocino for the night would have been the perfect distance though the ride over 1 N back to 101 was at Leggett was fantastic. But rushing to get out to the Lost Coast by sunset was a bit of a drag. Did 36 on the way back and if you can get dtrides to tow you up there it's worth it but then you have 300 miles of 5 slab back to the bay... unless you make it another day and head out to the sierra foothills and back down. Either way doing all of 36 does involve slab time even if you do make it out to the foothill because coming back you're going to hit some straight/flat through the valley. Or S. Utah. Or Yosemite. Or... Really depends on if you can cut out for multiple days or if you are looking for nice day trips.

This looks awesome! Do you have a map or route? I'd like to do this on the weekend. That's a Tiger with street tires, right? Shouldn't be too rough if I take it slow.

Yes, Tiger on Street tires - I have also done it on my VFR, so it's possible on nearly anything if you take it slow enough.

It's probably safer/easier to go UP (the road gains significant elevation).. so you'll want to ride it south to north. You find it by following Trimmer Springs Rd around Pine Flat Lake until you reach Blackrock Rd.

Here is the lat/long of where that pic was taken. Paste it into Google Maps..

Blackrock Rd will take you all the way up to McKinley Grove.. go East to check out the Courtwright/Eshon Reservoiors, West to make your way to Shaver Lake... lots of amazing riding in that area.
