So, in the interest of accumulating massive amounts of poverty, I'm looking for a track specific boot, rather than my street Daytonas.

I like the Supertech Rs, but they're not manufactured in my size. :(

Anyone else run them? Thoughts on comfort, protection?

Mine are comfortable and survived my crash on Redwood. I'd vouch for them. :thumbup

I am on my third or fourth pair. My favorite boot.

My ankles feel well protected with the SMX Plus boots, as it forms a hard shell around your ankle when the zipper and ratchet strip are both closed. They don't have the fore-aft flexibility that the Sidis do, but it's enough to make them as functional as I need them to be.

I actually prefer the SMX Plus boots to the Supertechs. There was so little fore/aft flexibility in the Supertechs that I missed shifts. I didn't feel like I had the same feel or control when I weighted the footpegs either.

I vouch for em, I crashed tested mine on 9. An I am still using them.

Love my SMX Plus, but will try the Supertech R next! :teeth

Use 2 year old supertechs on the track. Feel good, haven't crashed in them (knockknockonwood) so no comment on that. They have that inner boot thing you have to put on first and then the outer shell next. Oh, and they don't squeak!!!

Used the A* smx plus boots for the track and they did the job well ....and then demoted to street duty when I got the supertechs. Easier to get on, feel good, but they squeak like a hamster getting stepped on, when walking in them. A little grease inbetween the squeaking parts fixed it though.

I did have a pair of A* smx (not plus) I crashed in and they saved my right ankle from becoming rashed.

Both pairs of boots are perforated and you can feel it.

I also like the Supertechs, but they don't make them in my size; smallest manufactured is 39, and I wear a 38. Meh.

I'll check out the Sidis as well though.

Thanks for the feedback!

I've been through 5 pair of SMX +. Great boots! Have tested them a few times and luckily never had any problems. Once you break them in you can move your foot to shift with no issues.
You can always get track specific Daytona's. I ended up going with a pair after crashing in my smx+'s on the first day I wore them. You can replace parts on the daytona's where with the others, you have to replace the whole boot. Just an option. See you out on the track!

I used to have 'em. Looks like it can take a fall but
but never get to test it.

The reason I hated 'em is the squeking sound it makes when you
walk. It sounds like you're stepping on a mice.

Btw, why not the Sidis?

I was surprised by the new Supertech R; even just feeling the flex in the store, they feel a lot less rigid side-to-side than the first-gen Supertechs. And they made the first-gen in 36. :p

It's hard to find boots for small feet that don't suck. The braced goofy-looking V2 Pumas do come in 38, though - have you checked those out?

I had the same issue. the smx plus' are great boots, just don't try to sneak into work with them on :p

I upgraded to supertech's as well. Those are great boots too!

I had a pair of SMX Plus as well. Great boots. Had them at the same time as a pair of Sidi Vetebra Carbon and I liked them both despite them being quite different.

The Sidi was more like having a glove on my feet while the Astars boot felt more like....well a boot. By this I mean it felt heavier and thicker (especially the sole).

I favored the Astars boot due to their styling (I know, I'm a poseur) although they did squeak.
